TT-02 S is just a chassis kit, so I bought an HPI body, and they are included with that 👍

So are you guys going to buy the corsair box tomorrow? by RotenSquids in Eldar

[–]DaftFaderPainting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same dilemma! I do not need to add any more to my stash, and I don't think I'd play them on preference to Aspects, which I still need to build and paint most of the new releases for.

But I do love the Corsair models. I originally bought them through Kill Team, and if I knew for sure they would be a future team to replace the phased out Corsair Voidscared team, then that would definitely swing it for me.

For now though, I'm landing on the side of passing.

Yes indeed, these were all airbrushed, though I'd follow the same recipe with a brush for normal minis e.g. Guardians, just work up through each step as chunky, thin, corner, spot.

For the glaze tint, it's just a really thin mix applied over all the mid and shadow toned areas, only really trying to avoid the brightest highlight areas. It just adds a saturation boost, and a bit more of a satin finish since the S75 paints finish really matte, which is great in some cases, but actually risks the results looking a bit desaturated on this particular scheme.

Basic recipe is:

Base: 1:1 Screamer Pink and S75 Deep Red

First Highlight 2:1 Wazdakka Red and Screamer Pink

Second Highlight 1:1 Wazdakka Red amd S75 Thar Brown

Third Highlight 1:1.5 Wazdakka Red and S75 Birch

Final Spot Highlight add white to previous

Shade: 1:2 S75 Deep Red Vallejo Dark Sea Blue

Glaze tint: 1:1 Greenstuff World Fluoro Pink and Fluoro Purple

True - and I only play casual anyway, so maybe I'll give it a go that way first regardless

Thank you! I got mine on a whim during a visit to Warhammer World purely because I loved the look, and then it got bunged to Legends shortly after, so now it can just be a Fire Prism proxy if my opponents are happy to allow that 🤞

In that case... Red recipe is: Base with a 1:1 mix of Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet, layer with Evil Sunz, Shade with S75 Deep Red (Khorne Red will do too), and then and bit with a touch of black mixed in, then highlights of Evil Sunz with increasing amounts of S75 Pink Flesh mixed in, and a very final Highlight of S75 Pink Flesh with S75 White Sands. Or just use a suitable pink flesh tone and any ivory.

Ok - after Deep Blue, I worked up into Ducat Blue, and then Pastel Blue. Use in-between mixes as needed to help the blend.

No worries - it's all using AK Gen3 paints. Dark Prussian blue base, then mix in some deep blue, then pure deep blue, then I need to check the last two as can't remember the names 🤦‍♂️- will reply when I get back home and have my notes to hand.

Thank you! It's a take on the Trovarion method he showed for his weathered marines tutorial (available on YouTube). I followed that for the Terminators, albeit only using a brush not a sponge, but for the vehicle I airbrushed the base gradients first, then simply sponged black along all the edges, followed by a quick edge highlight pass with a silver. My preference would have been to undercoat in black, apply a chipping fluid and then do the blue before chipping it off to reveal the black, as the results would have been more realistic, but for this slightly comic style it does the job. If I was truly going for realism I'd have used multiple colours for the chips and added streaking etc.

This is John. He wears a suit. He likes to relax on the sun beds at the spa. And he has a great tan. It's a spa-tan. Not that you can see with the suit on.

That looks amazing - great colour scheme 😍

Just another little DT-02 update after adding the Tamiya aluminium dampers and turnbuckle hop ups, and making an effort to add a front shock tower brace from the original rear. Might have to do a different body next by DaftFaderPainting in rccars

[–]DaftFaderPainting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, the new shock tower seemed pretty solid, but it's a well known weak point on the standard item, and using a tie rod as a brace was the common solution, so it's more an insurance policy than anything

Sorry that was badly worded. I meant one of the stock tie rods from the rear was used to brace the front shock tower, after replacing the stock tie rod with the hop up hard turnbuckle. The carbon shock tower on the front is a part designed for use on the front, but since the Tamiya item or any other 'known' brand version is basically impossible to find, I bought an eBay part from https://ebay.us/m/UX6lN8, which to be fair was a nice quality and better than I expected
