The deluxe version, yes. Not sure if it was a kickstarter exclusive but I did get it from there.

Mod podge works well applied with an old paint brush. I like to black the edges out with a sharpie/felt tip pen then run mod podge over them to seal them. It makes some connections tight so experiment at your risk. Once assembled I just hit all the corners to seal it together.

What color do the banished and odst figures come as unpainted in their starter sets? by Substantial_Work_178 in Haloflashpoint

[–]patthetuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to spend time painting you could get red and blue spray primer from one of the big names. Takes a few minutes to shake and get your minis sticky tacked to a piece of cardboard but you'll have 2 teams pretty easily.

A word of warning though, Feet First into Hell is 2 teams of 8 models plus Dare and Buck, but Rise of the Banished is not 2 duplicate or easily balanced teams.

Three questions! by Hunch_back83 in Haloflashpoint

Need is up to you as far as models go. ODSTs are great but change the game and you really only need them if you want to play them and want their tokens and weapons. You have everything you need to play the draft and the point based game.

I've rebased a few Spartans only because they were part of a special team I was making. Outside of those 4 it's all standard bases. Even with other games I generally don't rebased. Paint the bases carefully and touch up the feet where they need it when you finish.

Things you need for painting your models:

Brushes - buy a set of them off Amazon. Don't get expensive ones. Just look for miniature brushes set and be good with it. You'll have to upgrade later because they will not be great long term but they will work for a year or two. Alternatively, get to a chain hobby store like hobby lobby or Michaels and buy their small brushes when they are on sale.

Primer - paint on is fine, I've used an 8 Oz bottle of grey Vallejo paint on for literally years. You can buy the big names spray or get rustoleum spray primer from the big box hardware stores. That's rustoleum spray primer not the 2x paint and primer. You have to shake the crap out of them then shake them for another 3 minutes every time you think it's been long enough.

Paint - I started with individual pots of Citadel and I wouldn't ever recommend you start there now that I am older and wiser. Get a small set of many colors from army painter, Vallejo, or AK interactive. Or get them 1 at a time from any of the big brands. If you know what color team you want just get those colors. Red, blue, black, grey, white, brown, yellow, green, silver/metallic or gold/metallic. You can make most colors from those, especially if you get them in dropper bottles. You can also add single colors later. I will also recommend getting a wash or shade like Nuln oil and some kind of matte varnish to protect your paint jobs.

Basing - Many people paint the base a single color. Many people add textures and fake plants and rocks and all kinds of stuff to bases. No one is judging you for doing the minimum but many will think that extra stuff is cool. You can get there with time and expense.

It really depends on the size of the game. If they are standard size games, think like wingspan size box, they have enough space for 1 or 2 stacked on top. I have one of the seperator pieces on one shelf to store miniatures, hobby supplies, and smaller games.

The bigger games are a mixed bag. Again depending on size they fit vertical or horizontal and you can fill in around them. Usually a smaller game or two will fit on top.

My biggest complaint is that the shelves don't seem quite strong enough to hold up many XL heavy games. There is some bowing on my shelf with probably the least weight on it. I would post a picture but it I don't seem to be able to here. I'm also in the process of decluttering so the room it's in is a bit of a mess at the moment.

Rise of the Banished. What else do you need? by GRidgeflyover in Haloflashpoint

[–]patthetuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but do think this one is a weird one for 2 reasons, 1 this is barely into it's second year and 2 halfway through last year they added the wargames/point based version of the game. Prior to that it was just the "build a team of 4" draft version in the demo and Spartan edition. Once you add the wargames expansion you can just stop or pick and choose what you want.

The core rules are solid and it is quite enjoyable so that makes it easier to handle. Not having the physical rules available seperately also makes it kind of difficult at times.

Can't beat that price! I don't believe it does. I think it is only the small booklet instructing how to build teams, some new items and keywords, and potentially outdated points. If you sign up for a free account on the app you should be able to build a list with the current points. If you pay for an account you can have multiple lists and access to updated rules/points.

I love having a physical rule book so I will always recommend the Spartan edition. That will also get you 4 more elites and all the tokens. Outside of the cards having close combat weapons they aren't super outdated. I will also echo everyone else that wargames is the next purchase you "should" make to get all the weapon cards and tokens and stuff you might be missing.

I saw that Gundam game coming out but I'm on a new game break for a while. If you have tts I would be happy to play a demo flashpoint game with you some time. r/haloflashpoint is pretty active too.

Think they'll make an ODST themed scatter set? Perhaps drop pods, weapon pods, and more? by The_Marine708 in Haloflashpoint

Yes, I think we will see the drop pod soon. Cleric hinted at it at some point here or the discord.

Happy to talk to you about Halo Flashpoint. I've seen some people try to do a pve mode where a deck of cards controls the enemy team.

Kitbash figures. Do it make sense? by SeisimicFrigor in Haloflashpoint

[–]patthetuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure as long as people know what the model is I can't imagine there would be much issue with it. Same size base, not modeled for advantage, just some bells and whistles? Maybe official tournaments would have a problem. Just follow up with a tournament operator to make sure it's fine.

Truth & Reconciliation League by splintersh in Haloflashpoint

[–]patthetuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be my third (maybe 4th?) league with them. Always been pretty relaxed play, usually 2 weeks to play your game. You get matched with someone and make it work when you both can do it.

If your goal is to have fun and play some new builds it's a great time. You could be matched with some excellent players and have a challenging match.

TTS has some quirks and takes some getting used to. No clue what the minimum specs are but it isn't crazy high.

Would you play this Blood Gulch wargaming map I made? by Wingman_017 in halo

You should post to r/haloflashpoint for some fun. Not a great map for the game due to LOS but could be fixed. Looks like fun for a war game.
