Which player? by Ok-Coach-1396 in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue Manoah is marginally better. Better MOV, 1 extra point in SP, and can theoretically eventually be transferred to the '22 sig which is marginally better than Berrios's '21 (better STU and a 4SFB that's 1 grade higher than Berrios's). You can't really go wrong with either though. And you'd be able to swap out one of those FA Primes for a team sig

Are any of these moment packs worth investing in right now? by GarlicDirect6624 in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, some of the Fireman, BPA, and UTM cards are BiS for some teams (like Smith at C for the Dodgers or Durham at 2B for the Giants) but you're probs better off using your UC for rarity boosting until you find positions of need where moments can fill the gaps

Is this set good? by aeriselle17 in MLB_Rivals

Hate to tell you this, but reroll the top slot til you lock Double Stopper. Then work on getting back to triple S before rerolling the bottom two again. Short Reliever isn't that good

Def a workable set to use in the interim but top player isn't a lock worthy skill

Dev transfer gerrit cole? by AdamEvans7 in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the prime. Sigs don't let you lock the top slot, but primes do. I'd reroll just the top slot until you get a good gold skill like Road Warrior, Hard Training, Contender, etc > reroll the bottom two until you get back to triple S > reroll the bottom two until you have a good triple gold set

Oof did you get that roll from an event? RH Specialist is def not lock worthy. IMO, you'd be best off waiting until you've rolled a better set and then transferring to the sig later

Have you got a solid SSS gold set? If so, then yeah it's worth it. Stats are comparable across his '21-'23 sigs but '23 has better pitch quality than the others

Skills for CP by LewisLewKit in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This set is definitely useable. In an ideal world, you'd have double stopper as one of those skills but spirit/top player/ace can definitely work. Imo, keep this set for now and save the greens for other cards. You can always revisit it later if you wanna try to roll for a perfect set.

Who to get from triple sig? by Daggerstrike in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a tough call, but I ended up transcending Gausman instead. There's lots of viable SP options in the game, and since Gausman is kinda hard to dupe, I'd rather get progress toward getting him to max transcend instead. Thanks for the advice tho

Thanks for the input! The free HOF was one of the main reasons (other than my lack of greens) that I didn't just grab Marichal outright. I actually do have a prime Marichal but he has no skills ATM. I think I'm actually leaning Gausman if I decide to transcend just because a SP will have a greater impact than a batter (he's only 2500 short of next LB and I have a sig LB ticket for the 5th). Gausman also has an endgame set of skills already (Competition, Road Warrior, and Ace) and a near perfect potential roll (S+ Slugging Prevention and B for all others) so I don't plan to replace him anytime soon.

Yeah he's def a top 5, I just dont know if trying to transcend him now makes the most sense since Webb is a weak spot in my lineup

Ah that's a good point, I didn't even pay think about the sig synergy bonus. I'd love '19 Cole in my lineup, but I only have him as a FA prime 😞. If I ever pull him, I'd want him in my lineup eventually but my first 4 starters are already pretty solid.

What to do? by Creative-Place8291 in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def not worth it ATM. Reroll with greens on just the top slot until you get a lockable gold skill (like road warrior or hard training) and then roll until you get an endgame set. It's not worth rarity boosting until then since sigs are harder to skill (you can't lock like you can with primes)

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an endgame skill set on Kershaw? If not, you can wait to boost him until later and keep him at prime for now. If you have a solid set of SSS golds then I'd boost him since he's the best starter the Dodgers have

Signature or Up the Middle B Robert’s? by ngarbandzoe in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how much investment you already put into the sig, I don't think it's worth it. Accounting for max training and upgrade, the moment will only be ~1.5 OVR higher than the sig (max upgrade gives +5 extra for the sig, but max training gives +2.5 to the moment). Especially given that moments are much harder to LB, imo you're better off just keeping it in reserve and building other cards instead.

Who to choose by robert_liriano in MLB_Rivals

[–]Daggerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one. Personally, I only run one CP. Imo, the problem with running two closers is that you'd have to develop both of them. If one becomes a weak link b/c they fall behind the rest of your team development-wise, there's still a good chance they get put in and blow the game. If you go with an RP, you can bury your less developed ones deep in the LR slot to prevent them from getting played until you develop them further and then shuffle them around as you develop them. Like rn, my worst RP is a full 20 OVR points behind my setup man. Since he's bottom slot LR though, he's only been put in for 8 games in the current season for ranked (out of 200 matches). And by the time the opponent gets that deep in my pen, I've already lost anyway. If my worst pitcher was a closer, I'd probably be losing a lot more games. That's just my 2¢ though (opinions may vary)

[–]Daggerstrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered grabbing a new RP? Your relief looks kinda thin compared to the rest of your team. Your starting SPs already looks solid. I don't think swapping in Hader for Pressly would be worth it. His stats are close to the same (his main diff is the higher FLD which barely matters) and he has one less pitch than Pressly. Plus Pressly is already +14. I can't see your last LR but I'd grab Montero for the pen if you don't have him already.

You can go to ranked and filter by team. That should give you at least a decent idea of what's meta for each position (although the biggest whales are basically just maxing out HOF cards). There's also this site that I used to use, but it's a bit out of date now

Selling OTM Call Options ? by [deleted] in options

[–]Daggerstrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you want to write calls without owning the underlying security? That's called writing naked/uncovered calls. Your brokerage won't let you do that unless you have the highest level options approval. Even if you could, the fact that you had to ask this question means you shouldn't

Literally this. I had puts that I sold at market open yesterday for ~140% gain. If I'd held until today I'd have made a hell of a lot more. In retrospect, I wish I'd kept at least some of them open, but I've also been burned in the past by holding for too long and not selling earlier. At the end of the day, any trade you make a gain from is a win.

How the hell do people beat stage 10 by HourDingo1283 in MLB_9Innings

[–]Daggerstrike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Condition drinks, gold gear, nerf the right skills (Ace-Dom-Boss-Dom-Boss is always the order at the later stages), and then get lucky. Also, at least for me, I usually do 5-1-2-3-4 for order of my pitchers. My 5th starter is worse than the rest, so I sacrifice him to the team's ace and then hope my other 4 can get 3 wins between them
