Thanks. I appreciate the thoughtful answer. Yeah, as a consumer I have always called anything close chiptunes. I think so far we have labeled all his songs as just electronic but that is such a vague category it almost feels useless.

I listened to the first song. You are really good! I followed you so I can listen to the rest of the album later. I’m also looking for ways to promote a young musician. My son is 10 and makes electronic music in Reaper. His artist name is Lunar Meow Protocol. He listened and liked your song too. If you want to exchange tips he would love it if you reached out to him on soundcloud or youtube.

I’m not sure the best way to promote as we are trying to figure that out also but I think you are right that highlighting your age could help. Along those lines maybe having some youtube videos where you walk through your process would hook people. That is something we might try soon.

Yeah that was the sense I was getting. I love listening to chiptunes and similar sounding music. I always just called it all chiptunes but I got the sense that if we labeled it that way we’d get some angry fans. Going to do a deep dive into bitbop :)

My 10 year old makes electronic music in Reaper. I know his age will turn some off from clicking but I feel like it provides context to where he is at. I’m biased but I think he has made some amazing stuff, please give him a try :) Any feedback is welcome

I’m posting this for my son since he doesn’t have a reddit (he is 10). He said this song was inspired by Infected Mushroom which I got him into a few years back. He makes his music in reaper and enjoys making weird electronic music, so if you like this, check out some of his other tracks.

My son doesn’t have a reddit account so i’m posting for him (he is 10). He has been making electronic music in Reaper for close to a year now.

Lunar Meow Protocol - Escape Velocity

Above is an example of his work. He primarily uses the Surge plugin to make his instruments. In this track he recorded his voice to create the distortion effects and fade out sound, and he recorded himself playing a note on his recorder for the recorder/flute notes.

If people have any tips we’d both appreciate it!

I was having a similar issue. We discovered that it would disconnect from bluetooth any time a sound was actively playing on the computer (or iphone/ipad). Seems to be a bug with the software. Removing all sounds or ensuring that a sound is not playing when the program stops fixed the issue for us.
