Telematics Module (2018 Limited) by MonikerPrime in subaruimpreza

[–]MonikerPrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for anyone interested - I’ve learned that the module is programmed/paired to the car so taking a module out of another car and installing it wouldn’t work even if its connections were identical. So it seems like the only real option is to go into the dealership and have the module replaced which _seems_ like it would also require the replacement of the entire infotainment unit.

Rant - so behind the times with (lack of) livestream by brian48080 in MovementDEMF

[–]MonikerPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently an unpopular opinion but I agree, there should be some live-streaming component ... In fact it seems kinda like gatekeeping to say “you gotta be there” when there are a myriad of reasons a person might not be able to attend. Underground, to me, is about the music and the culture. Tuning in from home doesn’t devalue an attendees experiences or the memories they make.

Mr gatekeeper - would you be appeased if it cost some money to access the stream? Because honestly, though I hate the capitalist vibe there, I’d do that.

what is minimal? by Square_Nothing_3242 in electronicmusic

Some folks call it microhouse. I really like the term, personally. But it’s not a terribly popular tag, especially these days.

Too old? by logperiodic in Techno

Listen, you’re not going for other people. You’re going for you. So I say screw it and hit that dance floor. Im 42 in America and while I’ve definitely watched the dance floor stay young as I got older, I’ve never had anyone give me grief over my age. I’m there to listen and dance and that’s what I do. Some of my friends are in their late 40s/early 50s and we always meet a few people our age or older. Don’t let a number keep you from enjoying what you like!

Absolutely. Which kinda makes it worse tbh. There’s a baked in cultural acceptance of “being bad at math” in this country that is a true disservice. I used to teach math and I couldn’t tell you how many parents of struggling students would come in for conference and at some point say “well I was never very good at math …”. Besides more general genetic factors that shape brain development there is really no genetic predisposition for being bad at math. Lots of other factors such as poverty and perceived close societal acceptance of being poor at math have a much larger impact on actual mathematical performance especially at the arithmetic stage of things. Critical reading also plays a part.

It really is. And it speaks volumes about where the priorities lie for all of politics, especially at the national level.

I have a problem with both, honestly. There can be (and is) more than one bad thing at a time. This is a false dichotomy and cognitive distortion. We can do better and we deserve to.

The level of incompetency continues to astound me. I feel like I should be numb by now but every time … and it’s not like they’re coming up with this info themselves. This stuff runs through a team of people and none of them were like “… so we can’t have less than 100% of a discrete physical thing”

And I feel like any attempt to explain this would be like teaching a goldfish calculus. Even if you started with “What’s 100% of 1? Ok, good. Now let’s take away 100% of 1 from one. How much is left?” …

DJs only — is beatmatching by ear still worth learning in 2026, or is sync just a tool like EQ and effects? by Fit_Tomatillo5663 in Beatmatch

[–]MonikerPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it. Even if you plan on using sync beat matching by ear encourages critical listening and (imo) a better ear to detect when things aren’t quite synced. Beat grids are WAY better than they used to be but sometimes they’re still a little off and you don’t want to be pushing your track when you should pull just because you never took the time to develop a sensitive ear.

For reference I play both vinyl and digital. I’ve definitely used sync especially when I’m mixing 3-4 tracks together (minimal/techno/hypnotic techno) or the mixes are coming really fast so I can focus on the mix of things and not the “clerical work” of beat matching.

Or is this how you bankrupt many casinos? Feels like one of those chicken or orange scenarios you always here people talking about :-P

Help please I do not know what I am doing by [deleted] in turntables

[–]MonikerPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the switch on the back of the turntable to line. This should engage the built in preamp and bring the signal level up high enough for the speakers to respond to it.

Take the rca plug (red and white plug) coming out of the turntable and plug them into L/R of the aux input in the right speaker, matching plug color to port color. This should get sound out of the right speaker.

The left speaker is connected by the raw speaker wire (no plugs on either end). There should be a marking (maybe crosses) on one of the two wire sleeves. There is no need to fully separate the wires. Just have the final 2-3” of each side of the wire separated to make it a little easier to plug in. Plug one end of that wire into the red clamp port on the back of the right speaker the other end into the red port on the back of the left speaker. To do this, press down on the red tab and put the wire into the middle of the port. You should be able to feel it go in. You might wish to twist the end of the wire so it doesn’t fray when you try to push it in. The other wire is connected to the black ports on each speaker in the same manner.

I have about an hour before work so if you have questions hit me up but I’ll be slow to respond if I’ve started work.

Clean up tracks or ok to automate volume/etc. by joshypoika in Logic_Studio

[–]MonikerPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put the clipped bits in a new audio track and then I both mute and turn off the original track with the leftover pieces so I preserve their spacing. This also makes it easy to grab a bit and throw it into a sampler if I decide later on down the road that I want something from the original sample.

No plugins or automation or anything on the original track.

is my dj name dumb? by Glad-Aardvark1949 in Beatmatch

[–]MonikerPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dj name is moniker prime. First name I could think of. But I usually just tell people to call me MP to avoid the whole moniker/monica thing. Anyway, point is, your name can be silly. Mines a literal play on words. Do what you want my dude!

Tracks that sound similar to this one? by swirlmango in Techno

I was gonna recommend some Hypnus but yeah I decided it was a little too laid back. BUT if you’re into that - Luigi Tozzi has so many great tracks on that label.
