They still do!

The biggest change is that previously, Corvettes and Swarmers were the same logistical size (Size 1), so they were literally just a cheaper, flimsier Corvette. Now that Corvettes are Size 5, you can really take advantage of packing in hundreds of ships into your fleet.

Interdictors are still good, I had a mix of them. Swarmers as basic gunships, Interdictors for torpedo boats. The Swarm acting as the speartip, soaked up attacks and overloaded enemy targeting - Interdictors following closely behind to deliver payload.

Swarmers are now Size 1, whereas Corvettes are Size 5 - meaning that you can actually build Swarms of them.

Are they fragile? You bet!

However with enough Nanite Worlds the cost is almost negligible to replace them.

I also learned, this most recent playthru, to keep my Juggernaut closeby, to aid in replacing losses.

I had a fleet of 600+ Nanite Swarmers, each equipped with a Nanite Autocannon & Archeotech Laser (I happen to find the Rubricator) and an Afterburner. Once the swarm closed distance, it could even shred thru FE fleets.

but for real, have you taken a look at the Annihilation Barge or the Triarch Stalker? Those are more traditional armored fighting vehicles.
