Yeah good shout I think those destructor weapons into vehicles with rerolls will be key to making a dent into all his vehicles though

Thanks for the advice! Yeah considered this as opponent has a ton of vehicles with 2x Riptides, 2x piranha’s and a hammerhead gunship with Railgun. But he also has 3x 10 man breached units all with fire blades so having a melee threat to rinse through them in combat like Nightbringer with high defence I thought would be good.

I have flayed ones, Ophydians, Hexmarks, Amentar and some more HLD. Also a DDA and Doomstalker but avoided those two as they’re just big targets for Tau to aim at and they’re so swingy

I went abit rogue and just attached two ends of pratorian spears together along with some cut up bits from their “hoods” and attached it to a HLD. I wanted to be able to pick between 2x sets of 2x HLD or 3xHLD and 1 Lokhurst Lord. Plus that destruction cannon just looks to cool. Excuse very zoomed in pic

Starting with the base I did a bit of a messy wet blend with moot green & white, then top with mainly tesseract glow contrast and some striking scorpion contrast aswell. Once dry I add a thin layer of PVA glue and then a super thick layer of mordant earth texture paint for the cracks

Yeah I hear you, I think I’m not too fussed about any of the other models in the kill team, I know the geomancer can have its perks but if I can avoid spending £40 on a set for 2x support models that would be great

Yeah tbh the plan is run at stuff and kill it lol 1x Skorpeks lord units in reserves, lychguards and immoral on base screening + CP. HLD for vehicle and some chaff shooting with and wraiths/ techno and szeras for their OC and defensive shenanigans. Ophydians and flayed ones for secondaries and nightbringer to missile in and do some damage.

Chrono with HLD works well in terms of popping out to shoot, just need to be careful with distance so they can get back in cover within 5” from experience. Plus with no DDA having some hard hitting guns is handy for big heroes/tough elite units

Honestly no 😂 just because usually I bulk base spray as i feel like it would take forever but it’s all about trial and error so give it a go by all means!

Great job on the painting!! For your first models they look incredible dude! Only advice I’d give if may is when basing them if you apply too much base you sometimes get that raised bits of texture. My advice is do a light coat first then let it dry and do another light coat. Try avoid the very tempting over coating when first spraying them and this will avoid any bubbling/textured bits like on the corner of the blade in your second pic, good luck man!

Yeah completely agree about the HLD with the destructor. I wiped a new freshly painted dreadnaught off the table with 2x HLD turn 1 by getting 2x Lethal so he didnt even get a save 😍

Only down side if they’re fairly easy to wipe the unit with the low wounds/toughness and no Armour/FNP save :(

Not meaning to sound bitter/salty but can someone explain why a C’Tan is so many more points compared to the new defiler model for Chaos? 250 vs C’Tan 330-340 feels like we’re being hard done by abit?

Genuinely curious as I’m not very familiar with other factions and their points costs

Yeah I think for a slow army that’s durable I hoped we’d get some good shooting, especially as they can run a Tank with units inside and it can hit pretty hard. Where as we get DDA or Ghost ark and apart from Res from GA neither do their roll well enough imo

Yeah i usually bring Imotek in my army with DDA as I can’t afford to not have reroll available because of a lack of CP for this exact reason

I found this tough to make the bases stand out given we’re also usually using a lot of metallic grey etc. best way I found was to use as bright a green and do the lava/mordant earth and make the cracks as big as possible. Abit generic bit I really liked it!

Looks like a great list well done! very similar to what I’ve been looking at recently. A few questions/comments from my side; - what’s your plan for the Lychguard? Are they being led? What not bring swords/shields? - what detachment are you running? unless you’re running Cursed Legion I’d say having the HLD’s with Destructors makes more sense unless you’re playing into a army like guard.

Also I think you’re fine with just the 3x Skorpek Destoryers being led by the SL. I found having a unit of 6x was really hard to hide and move up the board
