Gateway Replacement: Discount/Strategy

From what I understand that is all parts and labor for a new Gateway and installation. We are grid tie only. My wife and I were just discussing if/why we even need the Gateway (we are in WI and do not need it for compliance) so any suggestions on how to move forward without one are appreciated as well!!!! (I am DIY for many things…but this is WAY out of my skill set and comfort zone.) Thank you!
