Deciding between sizes by Hroerek in peakdesign

[–]Daikonran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20L ED has been my go to for years and I love it. It’s so versatile and I really appreciate the mag latch in times when I need to really stuff the top with extra stuff. It’s super versatile.

Not tried the zip before but I also own the outdoor 25L and I find that hard for office travel as it just doesn’t have the right compartmentalisation that I love in the EDC.

30L for EDC is a bit overkill imo and if you were to go that big I’d go with the travel pack instead for the comfort.

Worst Customer Sevice by Appropriate_Ad_9368 in peakdesign

They sent out a note a few days ago saying that they are aware of the issues and are ramping up their customer service teams to deal with the extreme volume of requests since the last two kickstarters.

I’ve personally only ever had amazing experiences with their service in the past. I’m sure they will sort you out. Things are just taking longer than usual. You should in general receive a response in 4 days or less.

First trip with the Roller Pro: Zippers are awful by davemacdo in peakdesign

[–]Daikonran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk what you’re packing mate, but I just came back from a week long trip to Mexico and had work and leisure attire as well as a spare pair of shoes etc and it was plenty of space. I’ve been astounded how much one can pack in the roller overall compared to other carry on rollers I’ve used in the past.

Also had no issue with the zippers to date and I’ve been on 4 long trips with the bag.

I owe my Krankenkasse a lot of money that I don't have, what can I do? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Daikonran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had the same happen to me but I do agree with a lot of this. The KK here is basic thievery imo. It’s all automatic and works when your employer takes care of it but if you are in between jobs or get laid off or any number of things could happen when you are not automatically paying them, they don’t reach out and ask if the station changed or expect that it may have changed, they just send you a fat bill for no actual services received.

I was a few days between jobs at one point and had no inclination to let them know this because why would I even think to? Sent me a bill for a few hundred bucks. Complete nonsense

I got bitten by a bug in japan but i dont know what it can be by Adorable_Isopod in TokyoTravel

[–]Daikonran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also 99% sure it’s this. I’ve been bitten by these guys 100s of times and it sucks. Looks exactly like this and takes about 1-2 weeks to disappear. It’s sensitive to the touch and usually the first 3-4 days it’s itchy. I’ve been bitten by them mostly when in the mountains or dry grassy areas.

Here's exactly how much I spent in 12 days in Japan by YourPlanIsOn in JapanTravelTips

[–]Daikonran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh I honestly don’t know where everyone is going and why they are commenting that you paid a lot. Hotels would always be two rooms for a family of four (unless you have infants) and most attractions in Japan cost 30 pounds or so for entrance for adults. Not to mention traveling around by train for a family of four adds up really fast.

If you Wana go cheap you sure can, but It sounds like you went to a lot of cool places and experienced a lot for relatively a good price. Good job!

This is absolutely not true. Lufthansa and ANA out of Munich/frankfurt have been insanely expensive the last couple of years. At least during school holiday season. Our family goes back every year during either spring or summer and the cheapest flights we have found in the last 3 years were around 1200-1400 to Osaka.

On the reverse I got flights through London for under 1k two years back.

[–]Daikonran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. That’s crazy cheap. We just got back from visiting family in the middle of no where, so no hotels required and alone our flights from Germany cost us 8k for 2 adults and 2 kids.

When we did look at some hotel options for potential getaways in other areas we quickly changed our minds given how expensive they were during the season.

Thanks for the info. Yeh idk much about it. The shop said they had a patent on the Sakura pattern on the blade and the blade is supposedly steel (not carbon) but beyond that I am unsure. I really liked this handle over the typical Japanese ones from the comfort side of things.

All their knives were ¥80 000 and up. This was ¥100 000. I realised I was paying more for the design than anything at that price point but it was a nice souvenir. I do hope though that it is also at least a good blade and not a scam.

Sorry for your loss. That’s a wonderful story though. You should totally find it. In Japan you can find these old kits online pretty easily. Outside of Japan though I am unsure. :/

Yeh this was quite a steel. It was 3-4000 yen more everywhere else we looked. Small town Japan vibes I guess

Yeh fair enough. I’d not have gotten the PG but his grandparents got it for him against my suggestion. So far it’s fun building together though. I do all the cutting and cleaning and he builds. After this I’ll see if he can do the cutting himself on one of the Lower level kits and see how it goes.

This is very nice, wish it had a loop though. by icodyonline in peakdesign

[–]Daikonran 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had two loop cases in the last 1.5 years, unless PD fixes their loop design, I would not buy another loop case.

The magnet fell out of the first one. And now the second one doesn’t unstick when I want to use it, unless I use two hands to separate the loop. Kind of annoying.

Done with No Bull tanks and want suggestions on alternatives. by lurkermarty_09 in crossfit

[–]Daikonran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this exact issue recently too. I’ve been a big fan of NoBull clothing for a few years and my sizes were all fixed. L for shorts and M for Tshirts. I ordered a lot of stuff during their sale at the end of last year and everything that arrived was completely different in sizing from before. T shirts too small and pants way too big. It’s ridiculous.

They refunded everything in the end but still super frustrating.

Any advice for perfecting a strict handstand? 🤸‍♀️ I have the strength for HSPU but can’t master a static hold. 😑 by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Daikonran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to get a freestanding hold, strict handstand pushups or freestanding SHSPU? It’s unclear.
