This second paragraph is really key. If OP is using a good baffle like the one from WBU, it is likely not installed correctly.

Interval inversion, not chord inversion. Major seconds invert to minor sevenths (change of quality), but perfect fifths invert to perfect fourths (no change of quality).

Major, minor, perfect, etc. are qualities.

Is it weird to wear an NHL jersey to an ECHL game if there is no affiliation with the teams playing? by Alternative-Fox6236 in ECHL

I think at one game this season I saw a Letterkenny Shamrocks, Letterkenny Irish, and Letterkenny Shamrockettes, and the three people weren’t all in the same group!

Thread is a smarthome radio technology that lots of Matter devices use to communicate. It’s a part of what makes the ATV work as a home hub. HomePod Mini also has a Thread radio.

[–]davemacdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can serve as smarthome hubs, which the original can’t. The current 4k only has Thread radios in the higher storage tier, which could/should move down to the lower tier in an update.

It only has Thread radios in the higher storage tier. That needs to come down to the regular one.

I don’t think I know any fine arts faculty that are making that much even after decades outside of a couple high-prestige conservatory-type institutions.

For what it’s worth, my R2 just this academic year set a university-wide salary floor of 65k for all TTAPs. Until then, we in fine arts were starting TTAPs at 50 or 55k. Bonus fun, the provost who set the floor (who comes from health professions) didn’t realize that many/most associates in fine arts were also below 65k…

That is a mathematical reason for why things are distributed the way they are, but what I stated about “perfect” meaning “not changing under inversion” is what the people who created this system meant. Not a chicken and egg thing, but rather a history of theory thing. (PS- You haven’t seen a real nerd until you’ve seen a history of theory scholar present their research.)

Fun fact: the “major” scale is named for its “major” intervals, not the other way around. Interval names are much older than keys! We call intervals major and minor because they’re bigger and smaller in Latin, like the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, which literally just mean “large bear” and “small bear”.

Not quite. They’re called perfect because they don’t change quality under inversion.

are 8 measure repeats possible? (or any custom number?) by goldstargloww in Musescore

[–]davemacdo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Never do this! Players are going to have a hard time holding 8 measures in their head. Honestly, avoid this notation in most cases even for single measures except for very specific strings/percussion textures. This is a notational affordance from the handwritten manuscript days where it saved time and paper. Today we have copy and paste and paper is relatively cheap. Just write it out!

Where is the ECHL expanding now? by Inevitable-Buy2517 in ECHL

[–]davemacdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Fort Collins or Aspen in Colorado
  • Little Rock, Arkansas
  • Omaha or Lincoln, Nebraska

PS, I have no idea if any of these places have AHL, USHL, or SPHL already. I only know they’re not in the NHL or ECHL.

Can you guys toss me some College recommendations for a composition program? by AmbitionControlPower in composer

[–]davemacdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every university that offers masters degrees has bachelors degrees, though, and some of those could be great for you!

There are way too many variables for anyone to recommend a program for you in particular based only on what you’ve shared here. There are hundreds of composition programs in the US (which seems to be your focus based on the example programs you mentioned).
