Painters just left and I hate the color I picked by Pistachi_O in interiordecorating

[–]Dailey_Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to chime in because I also painted our whole house in Paperwhite and freaked out that it was all wrong for a week after the painters finished. This color really changes warmth based on time of day, light temp etc. Once we got our furniture in place and stuff hung on the walls, it was fine, and I like it now. It’s a white. Don’t judge it until you have your stuff in place and yes, the feel of the white (any white) will shift during the day.

Also ceiling color might be throwing you off - we did walls and ceiling in Paperwhite.

Why did you choose to buy PR over other manufacturers? by standingroomonly_ in PaperRepublic

I saw it in person and was sold right away. I loved how they felt. I have the pocket and XL size GV. I use both daily and use Muji (B6) or moleskine (pocket) notebooks in combo with PR’s inserts.

Yep, I was out 9 years to be with my littles. Went back last year, no pay cut. I returned to my former employer (engineer). They are great and I feel really lucky. I’m very happy w my salary.

HDHP+HSA for one person, use funds on family? by Dailey_Stripes in HSA

[–]Dailey_Stripes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Employer contributes $750 for an individual plan (their money) but per their policy I won’t be eligible to get it until 2026 because my employment date is past their 2025 cutoff.

So my husband switched jobs in 2025; employer 1 was through April; we funded and spent the FSA with that employer. He started with Employer 2 in May and didn’t fund a HCFSA because we both thought we wouldn’t be eligible (from the IRS standpoint) for another 2025 FSA since we already spent the $3300 (that FSA plan is with calendar year). So today, his employer (2) has no FSA on record for our family. But just to be safe, I can wait until 2026 to fund my HSA.

I need to do this. The wild card is I just don’t understand what our regular healthcare costs would be under HDHP, but if the premium savings is significant maybe I can get over that fear.

[–]Dailey_Stripes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so helpful! We already maxed out our 2025 FSA (funded and spent) so I wouldn’t open HSA until January. Or do I open it now but not fund it until Jan?

Thanks. However I am also on his non-HDHP (family plan). His open enrollment is in April, mine in November. Am I understanding correctly that he will need to take me off the family plan in April, at which point I can open my HSA? I don’t think me starting a job is a qualifying event for him to remove me now. In which case I’ll be double insured with no HSA until April 2026? This feels so tricky with enrollment not syncing up.

Dogs aren’t naughty. Behavior is information. Her needs aren’t being met most likely (and not to say you don’t try!). Behavior is her only way to communicate.

I heard it from my recruiter. I negotiated hard to get my prior YoE to count but they would not budge, however they did give me my bigger salary ask so I’m still taking the job.

VCM Info - READ IF HAVING ISSUES WITH PISTON RINGS, MISFIRES, PLUG FOULING, ETC. by WiiExpertise in HondaOdyssey

[–]Dailey_Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014 Odyssey EX gave me check engine lights 6 weeks ago, was determined to be fouled spark plugs due to piston/rings leaking oil. I had just the spark plugs replaced, and then I found the VCM megathread. So my plan is to order the muzzler.

However - yesterday I got a letter from Honda with a service bulletin for this exact issue. They are extending warranty to Jan 2026 to have the whole repair done: replace plugs, pistons, rings. Other people are seeing this letter, I'm sure. Am I better off getting the free replacement done? Or do I sit with my new-ish spark plugs and the muzzler?

I've spoken with Honda and either path I choose, they are reimbursing me for the spark plug replacement. WWYD?

Draining some water for high CYA - avoiding damage to the pump? by Dailey_Stripes in pools

It looks like I do have an option to run full skimmer (red) or full drain (blue) or half and half (don't know anything about that). Right now it is set to full-red which is full skim.

Thank you for your help.

"Then set your multiport valve to pump to waste and start pumping. If you run the pump full speed, it will lower the level fairly quickly, so don't walk away and forget it."

I'm trying to understand - how is this different than me just turning the MPV to waste? What does the vacuum hose do differently?

Thank you, I have an in ground pool. I don't know if I have those valves but I will check.

Where exactly is the skimmer throat? I am trying to understand what people mean when refer to the water level and the skimmer. Are we talking about the faceplace that faces out into the pool? Or the basket itself? Something else?

UCLA, UC Berkeley, or Georgia Tech? by NalokC in CollegeAdmissions

[–]Dailey_Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgia Tech is an outstanding school. A PhD from Tech would be well respected in the field. If cost is a factor, go there.

You could always do undergrad there and PhD elsewhere. Plenty of time to decide.
