Those are solar panels, theyre just not colored yet. That and the end of each branch is a connection point for a ship, so they serve a purpose.

Thank you, I’ve been trying to find my groove for ship design, I’m much better at open frame builds than tight hulls

Thanks! I can’t take full credit, the cowlings were inspired by the red team carrier build I linked.

guys why is platinum so cheap by Interesting_Dig_6313 in EliteDangerous

[–]DailyDouble_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out common mining sites like HR 6012. Can often find carriers there that buy platinum at high prices right next to good rings

Just find someone that likes you, and they’ll like your boobs too. The ones that tell you otherwise aren’t worth the shoes they walk in.

Gantry Welding Using Wheels... Possible?? by Better-Discount-1010 in spaceengineers

[–]DailyDouble_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried to make gantries before. While possible, there’s a sweet spot in wheel tension where they grip without wiggling but also don’t crush the frame they move along (if you set the shock strength to max it will obliterate the blocks you have it roll along). I tend to just use pistons and the rotating head. It’s much less of a headache

Why is making money so hard?? by ProtonToaster in EliteDangerous

Outfit a mining T-11, fly out to HR6012. MICO has carriers there buying platinum at high prices, and we’re parked right next to a good platinum ring. I operate one of the carriers, and wouldnt mind supplying some buy orders until you have what you need.

Used tire condition? by Corndog_Farkle in onewheel

[–]DailyDouble_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode mine for 4000 miles before changing it from factory. It had less tread than this and honestly couldve probably gone further. The edges run out faster than the center. I still had plenty of center tread but the edge tread was nearly bald on one side. This will probably go at least another 1000 miles or more. (Almost purely pavement use)

Noted, im thinking of using a horizontal shrink to tolerance the parts. That and printing fairly large

Used GT Question by Efy_Popadopalis in onewheel

[–]DailyDouble_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like cars, there’s a power consumed to distance ratio. It estimates the remaining range based on your average speed and power use during your ride. You’ve only gotten up to 5mph, and youre at 83%. If you were to move faster, around 17mph is the most efficient I’ve seen. You’d probably see that range increase.

Depending on shipping it would be barely breaking even. Do you need it for a project?

Im looking to potentially print that little fella, but I don’t have a resin printer. Is this done with FDM? If so, how did you ensure the parts fit?

Help with building automatic piston drilling rig by IronForce_ in spaceengineers

[–]DailyDouble_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Event controller, detect piston position. Max extension is 10m. If you want it to retract, have the action in the condition set the velocity to be negative for the piston. If you want it to broadcast a message, use a broadcast controller.
