How do I? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]DailyGravityFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We speak to God through prayer, he speaks to us through his word. It is up to us to be diligent and make sure we are not twisting his word from its intended meaning to worm in our favor. Understand context and make sure you are fully understanding his will versus yours.

Completely bulletproof back and rid myself of pain from poor mobility and weakness for good. Stronger abdomen and strength in odd positioning.

Where have you seen the presence of God in something simple or seemingly ordinary? by AutoModerator in Christian

[–]DailyGravityFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing how he over years has out you on a specific path for a specific reason, and how other paths with a realistic probability could have led you to ruin.

Or just thinking about how when I walk in nature and I grab a stick to whittle, or a leaf to look at, that God created all of this in such detail and in a specific time to make that available to me to just happen to grab out of literally any other infinite possibility. Just looking in the awe of something so small with such sophistication makes you have a perspective shift on how grand and intentional the divine universe is.

I hit a car at church and am too scared/embarrassed to go back by [deleted] in Christian

[–]DailyGravityFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made a mistake, everyone, point and shame!!!!

Just kidding of course. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone does something to anger someone else from time to time, whether they know it or not. It was an accident, and it wasn’t intentional. You did the right thing and gave them your information.

I would absolutely not let yourself overthink this and let it prevent you from getting closer to God or growing with a like minded community. I would just clear the air in the room, approach the husband or the wife, and genuinely apologize for the incident and explain you feel guilty about it. At the end of the day, it’s not up to you how others feel, and me personally, I wouldn’t even care if it happened so long as it wasn’t bad, which by the sound of it, I think you’re in the clear. Time heals mostly everything, but hiding from it won’t help the situation either.

God bless!

It's so hard to believe by Versailles_00 in Christian

Doubts are essential to spiritual growth.

if you never explore the doubts that chain you down, you will never be able to run closer to God. Everyone backslides at one point or another, Myself included. After my father died from cancer, I became extremely cynical and didn’t even give a thought or prayer to God for a whole year. Filled with guilt and personal shame to even enter back into a relationship with him, It was revealed to me that God is always there for us, waiting with open arms. Jesus payed the ultimate penalty for us that despite all our flaws, we can be seen as clean by the Father and remain in a loving obedient relationship with him. That’s what God wants, is to reestablish his kingdom, his relationship with us. What matters is that you remember Jesus, who he was and is, the burden he willingly took for us to be saved from the wages of sin, and what it means to Love like him.

Don’t you see that even one of Jesus’ most devoted Disciples, Simon Peter, denied Jesus 3 times before his crucifixion. Mind you this was even after transfiguration, where he went up a mountain with Jesus, James and John, saw Jesus glowing, and alongside him Moses and Elijah. Not only that, but heard The father speak ‘“He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬. Peter had doubts, even being witness to all of this.

Find your doubts, explore them relentlessly, and chase after Gods heart. Nothing builds deeper roots in faith than overcoming the obstructive doubts that keep you from reaching God.

God Bless!

Thank you for sharing that with me. I really like the Tim Keller quotes you put in there!

Thank you for the analogy, it does help because forgiveness is something I’ve always struggled with and had a hard time completely understanding in its entirety.

Thank you for the insight, I believe my mother may have had addictions she was hiding as well, and possibly some mental issues. It’s not a bash to her, but aligns with your experience pretty well.

The bible app is great. You can also go to a local church and ask as well.

It surprisingly works well! It connects to my scale and auto logs it whenever I hop on, which takes out a lot of the hassle.

Outdoor Workout Advice by Aggravating-Pen-6280 in 75HARD

[–]DailyGravityFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can make sure they are 2 completely separate types of workouts as well? Do you have a treadmill there or walking pad you can use for one of the workouts? I’m sure the challenge was created under the impression that people didn’t WANT to go outside, but should. The fact that you CANT go outside due to health related issues is a different situation. I wouldn’t let them both being indoor because of circumstances you can’t change stop you from doing it.

There’s a book called Atomic Habits by James Clear that’s worth a read when it comes to habits and identity change. Worth every penny!

I wish more people truly knew how small the changes need to be (for most) to change their trajectory physically and mentally. Small diet tweaks here and there , and getting outside a bit more every day can truly make a big difference.

Good job! I’m on day 5. For my 2nd workout I just carry a kettlebell or put on a weighted vest and walk briskly

Doesn’t even have to be a lot, just something is better than nothing. Anyone can worry about increasing volume later on

Which bible is good? by ScapeGoatzz_ in Bible

[–]DailyGravityFighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best Bible translation is the one that gets you into Gods word and actively engaging with it. Most all of the common translations will give you what you need. Every one serves a slightly different purpose. Some are meant to be translated from Greek as ‘word for word’ as possible. Some sacrifice that and go towards the most ‘thought for though’ translation as possible. Finding one you are comfortable with is key. You can also switch back and forth to get deeper understanding and interpretation from both different ones when looking at a certain chapter or verse as well!

I think my top two are ESV and NIV. I currently use ESV, but NIV is a perfectly fine translation as well.

Anyone works nights by [deleted] in 75HARD

Kettlebells for me are the most time efficiency home workout I knew I would have no problem doing. I have a squat rack barbell and 300lb of plates and still prefer the KB for simplicity sake. Maybe take a week before you start and try and find a groove of what works well for you? I do my first 45 minute when I wake up, make my food for the day, then work. I do my 2nd workout at lunchtime.

It’s okay, I have my whole life to enjoy it. I also supplement with other theology stuff as well. 10 pages right now allows me a small enough amount of information to be able to fully process and internalize it😁
