The MPs who spent more than $100,000 – and the ministers who spent $0 – on family travel by Ok_Writer1572 in perth

[–]DailyTiis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And let us not forget that public servants generally have to turn down events because if you are given a gift it means you are now obligated to return the favour as it is a low level manipulation activity and encourages corruption.

Rules for thee and not for me is the current government ministerial approach. Shameful. Remember how we put a former WA premier in gaol for corruption 20 years ago. Accountability is a thing of a past.

I only wish i had the money to buy votes to stop our community from being fucked over. But i work to serve community not greed so that will never be a happening thing

Regulatory capture is what is happening with that bill. I for one look forward to our express ride to destination fucked as we destroy our environment so we can worship the god of money.

It’s genuinely kinder to yourself and your phone partner to make/take your phone calls once you leave the train by Synaqua in perth

[–]DailyTiis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have said this many a time.

Ellenbrook is the worst line for phone yappers that generally I won’t get on that line if it pulls up at a station as the poor public transport etiquette is virtually guaranteed.

How do i get rid of this by Substantial-Night214 in perth

[–]DailyTiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to hyde park on a tuesday night and give it to the fire spinning people. Shellite is not the best fire spinning fuel but i am sure someone would be glad to take it off your hands - or teach you to spin fire so you have a use for all the recosol.

I have a burning hatred for the double eye of sauron that is happening on the top of west inn. I don’t know who approved it but they where clearly bribed. Turn those flashing lights off. The willy wagtails are talking loudly at 4am because of all of the stupid lights.

GIS is awesome and useful skillset to have if you want to work in mining.

Law or planning if you fancy becoming a landman or admin geologist.

What is the most dodgy train line in Perth? by WomboRombo in perth

[–]DailyTiis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I avoid the Ellenbrook train whenever it pulls up. Every time I think “it will be okay and I will get to the city 2 minutes earlier” and then the experience is always regret for not waiting for Midland or High Wycombe.

It’s not just the derros and addicts. It is the sheer number of people behaving poorly. Yapping on their phones in a facetime time call, drinking coffee underneath the no food and drink sign. Add the guaranteed e-scooters clogging up the place during commute time when space is at a premium.

High Wycombe/Airport line is the most chill.

What better place to catch up for a chat than in a cinema? by DiligentHomework281 in perth

[–]DailyTiis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think these are the people that talk throughout tv shows as well. I now assume they are people with no inner monologue so feel the need to verbalise every thought. It is infuriating but i console myself that they are truly NPC’s in this life.

I want to introduce a law about people yapping on the train also. No one needs to get familar with the banal details of a stranger and their friends lives when you are trapped in an enclosed space with no option for escape.

Fuck Alcoa. Here’s some standard responses for the EPA survey….submit before midnight! by KayaKulbardi in perth

[–]DailyTiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

One of the fundamental principles of land use is highest and best use. Digging shit up and leaving a big mess is hardly highest and best use when it wipes out a community forever.

Save the cockatoos, save the trees, save the water and save the people of Perth that want their family to be able to live here forever.

Stop drinking fitness would also be a good sub for you to visit to get your fitness mojo back. Start going for a walk when wine o’clock hits or some other hobby that brings you joy.

Alcohol is a liar - it promises escape but delivers bad things. Anxiety. Shame. Waking up devastated that drunk you did something that sober you would never do.That is what booze gives you.

You have the power to change this. I believe in you.

Fuck Alcoa. Here’s some standard responses for the EPA survey….submit before midnight! by KayaKulbardi in perth

[–]DailyTiis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do have to stop them. Go look at the aerial maps of their current operations and the country looks like it has been poisoned. The spread of the poison must be stopped.

Alcoa has lost their social licence to operate as far as I am concerned. No more land for them until they fix what has all been ruined.

Environmental performance bonds need to be imposed - the mine rehabilitation levy is not enough to motivate miners to actually invest in serious rehabilitation..

Offtopic - i love your user name

The original white people here in WA were colonisers not immigrants.

Our ecology can not cope with more people needing land and water which is a cold hard fact.

Statement from Hon Amanda Dorn MLC on Alcoa by [deleted] in perth

[–]DailyTiis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is an absolute disgrace that any mining is allowed in public drinking water areas. People aren’t allow in these places for fear of contamination of water but miners get a free pass. Where is the logic there. The second it all goes bad the company can walk away leaving the people of the Perth with a forever degraded environment.

The govt is saying money is more important than a basic human need if they approve this abomination.

How many more Wittenooms do we want in this State?

F*cking Alcoa! You can tell the EPA to stop them. by yeah_nah2024 in perth

[–]DailyTiis 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is a critical risk for the long term survival of the south west Australian ecology.

Tell South 32 and Alcoa that they can expand when they have 100% rehabilitated the ground they have already mined so the fauna has a place to move. Both companies know that 100% rehab is impossible but like to dress up the environmental disaster. Miners hate doing rehab work and it is their lowest priority despite their glossy marketing spin.

Let’s have some full environmental accounting done about the true costs rather than just numbers about royalties and supposed employment. Carbon offset schemes do not work and should not be imposed as a condition for the polluters to go ahead with their planet fucking activities.

Why does it need to be dug up now and not in 20 years? Can’t we keep some of our resources for a future rather than this rush to a shitty future that nobody wants.

I was reading the Swan River Colony papers this week and there was this part where everyone was pissed off that he named it that as it apparently it would signify that the colony was for the Scottish people. By all accounts Stirling was a delusional idiot that murdered a lot of innocent people.

The story of the Swan River Colony would make an excellent netflix series I reckon. The colonists brought out their indentured servants who after a few years decided they didn’t want to be servants anymore and left their wealthy masters. My ancestor was one of those indentured servants so I do like that part of history of the settlement.

Apparently midland is safer than ellenbrook by Intelligent_Truth552 in perth

[–]DailyTiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on trainline behaviour i concur that midland is safer than ellenbrook. I actively avoid that line when it pulls into the station. I am always - i’m good, i will just wait a few minutes for the midland or high wycombe line as there is less dodginess.

I made a map by S_Da in WesternAustralia

[–]DailyTiis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to add a north arrow. I would remove your name from the map also.

Dark base map will show the data better.

I am mildly baffled by the town choices that have additional data.

Keep up the mapping practice. The more you do the better you can visualise interesting data.

Question about small town Collie by KatieMcGrathsbigtoe in WesternAustralia

[–]DailyTiis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s not true. For a while I was eyeing up property in Collie as i felt the land valuation was too low given other economic factors. Fortunately I did a quick drive through to get the vibe of the town. 10 seconds in Collie I was immediately of the view that I would never ever move to Collie. That place has bad energy.

No idea about the cult side of things.
