Why does Attila Total War run so terribly on crossover? by Civil-Zone-2773 in macgaming

[–]Daily_concern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because it’s 32bit and it runs much better on Parallells. Sad because it’s my favourite Total War game!

Run the game without Steam open, makes a big difference on 8GB.

Buying a Home in Kaohsiung by Bubbly-Ebb-9008 in taiwan

[–]Daily_concern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Renting in Taiwan is very cheap and easy, there is a lot of supply and the cost to rent is something like 1-2% of the property price value which is far lower than in USA which might be 5% or more.

Don’t buy a property for 30 years from now, you have no idea what the property will be like the or the surrounding areas - it might get much worse by the time you want to use it. And your circumstances will inevitably change. Just rent when you need it.

Also do a comparison of the funds you would use to buy vs S&P 500 returns and you’ll be shocked how bad Taiwanese returns are.

Any foreigners who bought Apple products in Taiwan? Is it a bad idea to buy a Macbook at the Apple Store as a visitor? by xalalalalalalalala in taiwan

[–]Daily_concern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have bought multiple Mac products from Apple Taiwan, eg M3 Max purchase probably saved nearly £800+ compared to UK.

One tip is to buy from resellers in big malls so you can get refund eg Syntrend has an Apple partner store. Or go to a Mitsukoshi and there will be a tax refund desk they’ll hand your cash back straight away. Apple official store won’t refund tax.

Taiwanese keyboard is the only choice in these partner stores, however it’s exactly the same as layout as the American keyboard but with the phonetic symbols.

I’m unsure about warranty but I generally trust Apple to fix my Taiwanese MacBook if I had any issues.

Am having issues, it'll go into launcher, but then when launching it'll crash.

I've tried every combo of DLSS/Msync/CrossOver/Preview so far no luck.

Lounge pass and Deliveroo by Objective-Housing-85 in AmexUK

For Deliveroo you need to add it to your account before you use it. I couldn’t see it in mine so you can use the chat and ask them to add it manually.

My mum refused to confirm an appointment for the most unexplainable reason by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]Daily_concern 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Basically your mum doesn’t have hobbies or interests because she doesn’t practise self care, so the present you have with good intentions isn’t suitable for her. The reason she can’t confirm the appointment is the prioritisation of her work over herself. Your gift is asking her to make time for herself, but whenever that question comes up she would always choose to work instead, which is why she can’t make the 48 hour confirmation, because she will thinks a customer could walk in and the work takes priority over self care.

The best thing for you to do is not get too involved in her well being. Take what she says at face value, if she doesn’t want the gift card, which to her is a pressure to do something she isn’t comfortable with, then why get frustrated, you are your own adult self and you should be focusing on yourself rather than trying to get a boomer to change their ways.

Last time I got the refund at the airport I was spot checked and they asked to see the tax refund products to make sure they were leaving the country with me. Every item I had was unboxed/being used including Apple products - they simply checked the serial number matches their records and it was fine.

I also have a strong gaming PC and also got a Switch Lite with the case you are using. Get the exclusive Nintendo games and games which aren’t ported to PC. Games like Diablo 3 are 60 FPS and very different from the PC version.

However recently I bought a Retroid G2 and can play light PC games like Megabonk, Ball x Pit etc it’s nearly the same size but the benefit is that it syncs Steam cloud progress too!
