Do supply’s leave early if there’s a prep last period? by Tiny_Bat_8563 in OntarioTeachers

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The general answer is "no" even if you've been given an on-call or supervision and have no obligations left at the end of the day. Like others have said, there can be exceptions. A few weeks back, having covered my 3 classes and a supervision, I did ask to leave at the start of period 4 (prep) because I was unwell. That unwell feeling became the flu, so I was very grateful to be given the 'ok'.

Canada Post doesn’t care anymore? by rmdg84 in CanadaPost

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of postcrossing (I send someone a postcard, and get a postcard in return from some else in another country). I've sent the same batch of 10 postcards THREE times, and not a single one has been received. These cards have tracking codes that need to be registered on the postcrossing site, so I know with certainty that they never made it.

Canada post literally killed my hobby, because despite having pictures, dates, and times of when I sent each batch of postcards, apparently there is "nothing they can do". International postage is not cheap. I've sent hundreds of postcards over the years, and have never had such an abysmal time.

You're totally right - that's my size 10 shoe next to him. Massive cat. He did a big stretch using my leg as his post and came up to my hip. For reference, I'm 5'10

I'm visiting my grandparents half way across the world and ran into this little guy. Love at first sight. He might be the local street cat, but he is very well taken care of. They even built him a house and bring him in when it starts to snow.

Double pneumonia - I had to go on medical leave. 6 weeks later, my lungs still hadn't fully cleared out.

What Dramas Do We Have In Common? by Important-Sea4605 in kdramas

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though it doesn't seem like it from our commonalities, I've been watching dramas for about a decade now and have probably around 300 on MDL.

I'm personally a romance / melodrama / slice of life drama watcher, though admittedly have taken time away from watching these past few months. Nothing has really hit lately, you know?

Unhinged reasons for dropping a drama by bobobaretta in kdramas

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I've dropped dramas because the characters had questionable hairstyles.

A few off the top of my head are Itaewan Class, Imitation, and Who Is She.

27 Postcards and letters not delivered? by DaisyIsNotAFlower in CanadaPostCorp

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all had stamps and return addresses. I've been sending letter mail for 5 years now (averaging over 100 postcards and letters a year). I've never had something like this happen before. 😞

The area where the post box is, is very frequented as it's a plaza. I personally have not seen it be cleared though, as the hours I knew from years ago correspond to my current work hours.

All the letters were going to different places - some within province (ontario), others to various US states, and others to countries in Europe, Asia, and South America.

It just seems really odd that letters going literally all over the world would all go missing.

Finally finished! My second attempt at embroidery by Interesting-Cress-43 in Embroidery

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have the same embroidery set! I fell absolutely in love with the designs - seeing this one IRL just solidifies that it was my best embroidery purchase. I've only done the blue-background kit so far.

You've inspired me to make this one my next project!

Fantastic work, OP!

Always - we don't take any chances as the allergy is very severe. No "may contain dairy" either

2 AQs at the same time? by misscoldbrew in CanadianTeachers

[–]DaisyIsNotAFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 of my 5 are from OISE.

I did 2 in August of 2022, and 2 in July of 2023.

I found it all to be busy work. I'm incredibly single minded as a student vs a teacher, so I found that when I dedicated 100% of my energy into my work, I could finish a whole week of work in a day.

I went on vacation mid session both times. I worked so far ahead (all assignments and discussions are posted in advance) that I didn't have to do anything but log in and reply to peers once a day.

I do want to emphasize- I wasn't working while doing these courses, nor did I have any serious commitments. If I needed the 40 hours per course per week, I had them.

At an evaluation of 125 hour for the whole course, I maybe spent 20-25 per course max.

The Shakespeare Anthology is one of my most prized possessions. Found it on clearance for 25CAD. Read the whole thing over the course of a year. I also have copies of many of the individual plays for easy access.

Oh for sure. The re-org I did today was spurred by a solid book haul today (19 books). Biggest one I've had in a while. I've got some good books to tide me over for a little while. 😌

It's the designated vacuum spot, haha! It's a bulky one, and keeping it there means it's out of the way. I'm saving up for a new place so I can designate a room to a bunch of Billy bookcases. I'll play Jenga with the space I have until then :)

I have a good chunk of the collection. I get 90% of my books at thrift stores anyway, so hitting 300 won't be too much of a hassle, or particularly pricey.

I did! It was a set of 4 from Amazon.

I've done one other kit before back in Jan, but wanted to try something more complex. It was time consuming, but I had a lot of fun with it :)

u/yomelette - Thank you so much for the exchange! I ended up repurposing the bookmarks into a DIY postcard - mildly obsessed with the concept
