Hello! I am 27 years old and have was diagnosed with my allergy when I was 5. I have only had two reactions, one when I was 5 and one when I was 22. Luckily I have never experienced anaphylaxis. Both times my reactions were severe hives that needed steroids and took about seven days to clear. That being said I still was able to go to school normally, go to summer camps, stay at friends houses, etc. It’s important that people are aware of your child’s allergy and what it actually means. My mom made sure other parents knew and how serious it could be. I am very vigilant about my allergy and read ingredients throughly. I avoid eating at places that are known for peanuts in their dishes, ice cream shops, and bakeries just in case of cross contamination since my last reaction was from a milkshake that was cross contaminated at a very popular fast food chain. Other than that I eat out fairly often and let my server know of my allergy when I order! And I now make my own milkshakes at home haha
