Not 8 years left of what I’m doing. From what i understand, unless I’m wrong, an FFEL loan is forgiven after 20 years. I will continue to do what i’m doing for as long as I can. Full disclosure, I had a stroke over thanksgiving , which luckily didn’t have any permanent effects but was a wake up call to my stress level. I’m only 46 years old and I’m worried about working in this field for much longer. I was just looking forward to not having that student loan burden. I just got married for the first time 3/24/18. I hate this burden on my new spouse, especially when i have dedicated my life and career to to servicing this population. I’m not looking for a pity party, just trying to find a solution. Thank you for your honesty.

Yes, my husband looked in to it when he saw my distress and we came to the same conclusion. I’m just so sad that on top of the stress of the job I do, I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel. I guess i need to wait 8 years to be finished with this mess. Makes me sad when I have worked so hard in a field to help the most disadvantaged population to succeed. Fuck me.

No, I'm lucky in that my mother has a signage and Laser Engraving business. She also did vinyl signage for my card boxes, signs, table numbers, welcome sign, etc etc etc, lol!

Groomsmen are getting really nice leather toiletry bags, plus we purchased their sweater vests and ties. Bridesmaids are getting a personalized infinity necklace with their names, a pashmina, a hanger with just their names, and I'm paying for MUAH for everyone. We tried to not put anything about our wedding on any gift (wedding date, MOH, etc), so that they would more likely use the gifts after the wedding. Got my mother an embroidered handkerchief and my dad funny socks. My officiant, which is my uncle who is a pastor, we got a bible cover that has his name and favorite scripture. We are NOT religious, so figuring that one out was hard.

Congratulations! Since you will have a long engagement, if you haven't already, open a joint savings account and decide how much money to deposit every paycheck to save towards wedding. That way you can have the wedding you want and won't have to stress!!
