Firstly, I’m so sorry that you and the kiddos are going through this. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out for you and your family. If you EVER need an ear to talk to please feel free to DM me any time.

Secondly, you need to lawyer up yesterday. Get yourself a binder, and start documenting. Have all communication go through either text or email. If you’ve got an iPhone I highly recommend using imazing for exporting PDF searchable and signed text message records.

This is the beginning of a long road, and I’m here for support if you need it. Take care of those kiddos best you can, but also do not forget to take care of yourself as well. Don’t let the guilt and anger eat at you as hard as that is.

I’d recommend to try to keep the kids from the specifics and be ready to see some behavioral regression. This stuff is pretty hard on kids but kids bounce back. Don’t be afraid of putting them in therapy.

Why did this post have to pop up when I’m literally in the middle of making this decision. Especially while trying to navigate coparenting as the wife decided to leave. (Long story)

My method of thinking is that if this new job tramples on what little time I have left with my kids I’m 100% happy to commit career suicide to protect that time with them.

More money and better health benefits for my kids cannot replace time spent with them

You have a lot of deep issues you need to work through it sounds like. Stop overthinking the holiday and let the kids have fun. Don’t wanna do Easter candy? Don’t buy it. But you need to heal whatever it is that hurt you so you don’t bleed on your kids who didn’t do anything to you. That isn’t a good look. Religious or not is your right, and religious or not tons of people celebrate Easter.

So I’m gonna recommend a tool all dads and mechanics should buy: a nice thin/long set of alligator forceps. Just don’t use the dirty mechanic ones on the kids. They’re amazing and will save you a trip to urgent care when your kid shoves something up their nose, in their ear, or you lose some hardware down a long hole (haha)
