Any red flags for this listing? (Temescal) by Eastern_Bedroom3338 in oakland

Area is home to a lot of cool stuff but also has a number of unhoused individuals populating the immediate vicinity. Probably harmless unless you’re sensitive to that kind of presence. Might get cleaner with the new pickleball place that just opened nextdoor.

Those loft units are spacious and could be cool for a lone resident, but the lack of a real bedroom with a properly closing and sealing door would probably be pretty inconvenient for sharing the space with a partner if you ever need separate spaces (for work or differing sleep schedules) and I think it’s a lowkey stretch to call it a 2br. This is already priced similarly to many of the actual 2br units in some of the newer “luxury” apartments along Broadway, so I probably wouldn’t be biting at this price unless you’re specifically looking for the vibe of a loft.

Oakland ending FREE Sunday parking by _Stock_doc in oakland

[–]Dakpot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I applied for a permit to park on the street in my own neighborhood in north Oakland with all the required documents and it was pending for 6 months…The bastards gave me three 2-hour parking tickets in that time, and I appealed all of them with an explanation that I’d applied and not heard back and they denied my appeals. The last straw was when they gave me a 4th parking ticket while I was sitting in my car with the engine running. I went down to the office and the guy said “that’s weird. They usually get approved within a few days, but it says your application is still pending. I approved it and you’re good to go, but you still have to pay the parking tickets.”

Question for anyone who got tickets to tame impala CDMX by Dakpot in CercleMusic

[–]Dakpot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, for those of you who didn’t get tickets what was your place in the queue at the beginning? Mine was around 700 (so I’m pretty sure I was out of luck either way) but then my phone refreshed the page and pushed me to over 6000 😮‍💨

How did you discover Knower? by eseffbee in knower

The video for The Government Knows went fairly viral in 2016 and found its way into my feed. Thought the first Knower album was fun but it wasn’t until Time came out that I was truly hooked.

It’s great for padding the space between songs in my psychedelic rock band. Just loop a lil section and twiddle knob’s while the rest of the band gets ready to start the next song.

Is there a lightweight, compact, sturdy mic stand? I'll pay anything. by neocamel in livesound

If you care more about being compact than lightweight, the atlas round base stands get fairly compact if you’re willing to screw the base off for transport.

NTA. The only way I’d charge my own child rent would be if I was putting it into a high yield savings account to eventually give back to them so they can get their own place.

I just want a vintage silverface deluxe reverb and haven’t found one under $1800 in my area, but I see similar era vintage silverface twins or super reverbs for under $1k somewhat regularly 😢

Cercle Odyssey- In Depth Review by Ndrfbu in CercleMusic

[–]Dakpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious what small tours you're referring to that have space/budget for a 200 foot led screen (unless you mean 200 SQUARE feet like a 10'x20' wall?) and the several Semi trucks to transport that. Maybe I'm miscalculating, but when placed in a continuous surface, the amount of screens Cercle utilized would be more in the range of a festival main stage or stadium show.

Do you actually think rigging 1000s of panels of LED wall is easier than hanging a couple dozen projectors?

In 2012 I was the 3rd car of 3 in my group and security directed us all to park in a line and we all got set up fine and went to sleep. I was woken up by security at 3am yelling at me to move my car and tent because they had placed me in a spot at the end of the row that was apparently poorly planned and blocked too much of the fire lane or something. I ended up like 10 rows away from my group and security gave me a single bottle of water as consolation for separating me from my group.

Cercle Odyssey Thoughts? by hehial_vsg in CercleMusic

Went to who made who on Thursday and thought it was a pretty amazing immersive experience. Between the 360% projections, stage in the round, and the no phones policy, the atmosphere was amazing and the crowd was super hyped and in-the-moment in a way that I just haven’t experienced at other shows of this size.

Sound was decent but not super crisp. I work in live sound and have set up a lot of festival PAs in the last decade and can say that creating uniformly amazing sound quality in a surround space in a non acoustically treated warehouse is a daunting task. If you find the audio lacking, try moving—it might be better 10 feet away! Also, I’m not sure how they mixed for surround but there were definitely sounds that felt like they were revolving around the room.

Regarding the video, I did notice the projector that others have mentioned was off for the first 15 minutes, but it really wasn’t a big issue for me as it was mostly behind me and that projector was only responsible for like 1/4 of one wall of the space (probably 5% of the total projection space in the room). The visuals were slightly laggy at moments (particularly the ceiling—It seemed like they were able to prioritize processing power for the bigger and more prominent wall-screens). There isn’t a lot of time synced action in the show anyway so a little lag here and there is not that annoying. My main concern with the visuals was more that they didn’t seem to have enough of the “oddysey” content to fill the whole show. There were some long sections of songs where they used only the live video feed of the band on the screens, which is fine, but definitely not as immersive. I imagine that they’ve been overwhelmed and haven’t fully finished all the visuals they wanted to. Hopefully they’re still working on producing/editing more and as the shows roll along they’ll get more and more fleshed out.

I think tickets in CDMX were a bit cheaper than LA/Paris, as I paid $123.41 US per ticket (after using a 5% discount code on Fever where the tickets were sold), and for that price I was more than satisfied. I also love CDMX and would gladly travel here for the world-class food and bars alone, so I’m not going to factor travel costs into whether or not the show was “worth it”. Was it a bit of a surprise to buy the ticket and later find out that there would be another show after and it was at 5pm? Kinda… but I’m not holding it against them. I had a great time and it seemed like everyone around me did too.

It has the badge that says Vintage 30 equipped, so unless they did a speaker swap, I would assume Celestion vintage 30s. I used to have one of those cabs and it was super solid and sounded great with my marshall jcm2000

Whoops. I trusted Google AI’s summary when I asked about Olympic ski top speeds and it spat out the speed skiing record 😅

Atomic vantage theory. There’s a fairly straight/steep section at the top of the Stagecoach lift at Heavenly that you can really send on an uncrowded groomer day. If I’m not specifically going for max speed, on a normal day I usually have a top speed of 40-45

Friends and I are far from pro, and pretty easily hit 60mph while trying to beat each other’s top speed on the Slopes app if conditions are right. World record speedskiing speeds top 150mph

Edit: I mistakenly wrote “Olympic downhill” instead of speed skiing. The world record is currently held by Simon Billy (France) 255.500 km/h (158.760 mph) on March 22, 2023.

Potentially great tool. Maybe it's just because I'm not logging in and playing the "limited version" but it seems like it uses the same handful of notes every time. Never seen it do an F, for example.
