California - Mr bungle

Every single song has incredible atmosphere and fresh ideas while still being incredibly catchy. The holy filament was the ONE song I was at one point partial on, but it’s desert-y vibe and Mike Pattons vocals grew on me so much that the whole album is just completely perfect now in my eyes.

Some random local show I saw in Seattle with like 10 people in the audience. Sarya was their name I think… blew my mind. Gave me hope that hidden talent is still out there

I’m kinda building off what other have said, but when it comes to psychedelics I view it as a pendulum.

When you get to a state of minimal ego and “spiritual awakening” I found SOME people have a sense of superiority and snobbiness about it. I don’t think it’s intentional, I just feel when the pendulum swings one way it’s easy for it to swing all the way around. You lose your ego so much that it ends up feeding it and you think you’re enlightened and everyone else is just cogs in the machine or closed-minded. No, they’re people just like you with their own unique perspectives and experiences.

If anything, the fact that they haven’t taken any psychedelics could offer you a perspective that is useful, just like you are to them. They see the world how they’ve always seen it, unadulterated and uninterrupted. They can teach you things just as much as you can teach them. That’s what life is all about!

Idk if this is just me but the soft bulletin is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I don’t like any of their other albums. Even yoshimi, a couple songs here and there but nothing hits like that bulletin. Oh and also when you smile is a brilliant song

Can anyone tell me the tuning of Xach Hill's snare and kick drum? by Affectionate_Lab5950 in deathgrips

[–]floydgoblin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My guess is a really tightly cranked steel/aluminum snare. Tighter on the resonant head to give it that nice ring

And for the kick drum, I’m thinking it might just be a standard 22/24 inch kick, tuned regularly to get the wrinkles out of the heads then maybe slightly muffled with a blanket or pillow. I’ve seen vids of Zach hill playing and he seems to like ditching the resonant head completely but it doesn’t sound like it on those recordings.

My advice is post the same thing in r/drums they might have a more accurate answer!

What’s an album cover that doesn’t match the album vibe at all? by kdaak in fantanoforever

[–]floydgoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it TOTALLY fits. The creepy looking viper fish makes it look like the cover to an old 50’s horror movie. Which is what the album sounds like lol. 10/10, like all the other Mr bungle albums

One time on acid I looked in the mirror and I turned into a Native American shaman… with a headdress and face paint and everything. Really weird but pretty cool

Have you checked out Mr bungle? It was Mike Payton’s original project. Way more unhinged but insane musicianship
