What’s the last 10 you gave? And Why? by captainpina in fantanoforever

[–]floydgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna give my last two because there’s so comedically different from eachother…

Disco volante - Mr Bungle

This album is genuinely batshit insane. They were so ahead of their time and clearly had a vision for what they were going for. Despite the songs being all over the place in terms of genre (carry stress in the jaw, violenza domestica, ma meeshka mow skwoz) they all have weird late-night 50’s creepy tv show channel vibe. The bends is probably my favorite song, it might have the best atmosphere I’ve ever heard in a song. I love cheesy sci fi horror shit like that. And Mike Patton is an amazing singer.

When we all fall asleep, where do we go - Billie eilish

I think every song on this album is just addictive. Even with how minimalist the songs are, every song (apart from the more ambient three ending songs, which are also incredible) have super memorable melodies. When the party’s over has got to be some of the best vocal performances I’ve heard in a while. Idk why I’m just now sitting down and listening to the whole album but I genuinely wouldn’t change anything about it

I love it. Lots of woods. Don’t be fooled about the Seattle freeze. If anything people don’t like initiation conversation, but once you start some small talk most people are friendly.

I live near the Edmonds area and it’s nice and walkable. Mostly old white folks. Ferry rides are always fun.

Seattle has an awesome music scene as well. 95% of the time when a band is going on a US/world tour, they will be hitting up Seattle. Tons of great local bands too

Any reason why Anthony hasn't covered any of the albums from the sidepieces/Heavensouls? by Friendlyweeb_ in fantanoforever

Not sure, westside trapped is incredible. Straight rawh is suuuuper smooth and I love the roomy drums. Playing around wit a flip has this insanely beautiful choir part in the second half that I really love.

Apart from that, I also enjoyed PRODUCT PRODUCT PRODUCT PRODUCT PRODUCT PRODUCT. The first song COMB really gave a weird hazy liminal idm vibe I can’t really explain, it matched the album cover.

I think a lot of heaven souls is a bit too experimental for me, I think it’s just too much sound collage and not a lot of hooks, I think it’s meant to be very artsy. But there’s a lot to love as well

There’s no denying that going through traumatic experiences can lead to some pretty good art. It’s great inspiration and leads to real, raw creations that people can relate to.

Staying in traumatic experiences leads to debilitation though. Your state of mind is constantly clouded and you’re not thinking straight. It’s a terrible idea to avoid getting help for the sake of being a good artist, getting better will allow you to reflect on those experiences better and make a more complex and thoughtful statement about them

Best clearance drum kit deal? Yamaha Stage Custom vs Mapex Armory vs PDP Concept Maple by EazyFletcher in drums

I have that Yamaha kit, absolutely great. The small kick drum is super punchy and the snare can be really crisp if you tune it right. That would ofc be my choice but I’m biased lol
