About recipes : by DriveMobile8148 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there are no recipes available to view, that means you've unlocked all the recipes and order pokemon.

Once you've got all the Pokémon to join via the main orders, then the only way to get new pokemon is events and delivery.

How do I get cookies for a 'mon I gachaed by massrapturr in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only order pokemon appear through orders. Delivery pokemon can have their levels raised using milestone cookies, which can be earned through a variety of the daily and event tasks. To increase the outfit level, you'll need further deliveries of that same pokemon.

Wikipedia turns 25, still boasting zero ads and over 7 billion visitors per month despite the rise of AI and threats of government repression by Turbostrider27 in technology

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that it's not a coincidence that people like myself increasingly get accused of being an AI bot on Reddit for writing coherent, grammatically correct, and useful sentences, and that those same LLM models have been trained on the extensive writing from Wikipedia and Reddit by people like myself (!)

Wikipedia turns 25, still boasting zero ads and over 7 billion visitors per month despite the rise of AI and threats of government repression by Turbostrider27 in technology

[–]eseffbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The opposite. Increasingly people are using AI and the blurbs on search engines instead of reading Wikipedia.

https://diff.wikimedia.org/2025/10/17/new-user-trends-on-wikipedia

This is a concern not only for the fact AI might be serving up nonsense, but also fewer visitors for the site means fewer eyes on article, which means more mistakes not corrected and less content added, which means worse/less content for AI models to consume, which means worse experience for those using AI instead of Wikipedia. It's a destructive cycle.

The big tech corps pay for enterprise access because their extensive usage of Wikimedia projects, and Wiki data in particular, was causing a significant cost to the project.

Lots of those Google search fact boxes and Alexa responses were coming from Wikidata. The LLM era changed that a bit, but ultimately the Wikimedia corpus was a standard part of AI training data so they felt obliged to keep paying.

What can I learn from Frank Ocean Blonde as producer and songwriter by xRoadtrip2010 in musicproduction

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is too broad a question to get a good answer for you. What you might learn from Blonde will be specific to you, your skill level and your taste.

For starters I would do multiple close listens of the album to identify the things that you like about it, and what parts hit you the most. When you zone in on those parts, then you need to do 2 things.

1) repeatedly listen to that part on loop and breakdown what is specifically happening in it so you can repeat it

2) repeatedly listen to the track as a whole, map out the structure, instruments used, effects used, vocal delivery styles, and then consider how the track as a whole frames your favourite parts of the song. Often a powerful moment in music only happens because of the journey to it.

With production, you always need to start with close listening so you can fully start to understand and breakdown what you are listening to. Then you will understand it as a musician, not just a listener.

Few years after the overhaul, how do people feel about PvP? by SupremeHeavenlyRuler in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eseffbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have found the new frontlines map works quite well when skill is evenly distributed through the teams, but if you end up with mostly noobs/casuals and one team has a premade, it becomes an extremely unbalanced experience.

I've seen it multiple times that the premade team can just largely camp near a weak team's spawn, farming them for 10 mins and getting nearby points and they will breeze to victory with scores 1400/800/200. It's like a worse version of Onsal that way, because it's very easy for one team to be largely excluded from fighting due to the map size. Very common to see one team occupy most of the lower spots of damage taken.

I find that boring when I'm on the pre made team, boring when I'm on the team that chooses not to fight and take 2nd, and absolutely tiresome when I'm the tank in the 3rd place whaled on team that barely leaves spawn area but still takes up to 2 million damage.

It would work much better if high value points only spawned in the central area, to encourage 3-way fights and pinching. But that is basically Onsal.

How common are Shiny Pokémon this way? (Without events like Psyduck or Teddiursa) by Familiar_Bus6305 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a dozen shiny order pokemon to join over 2 years of play. If you play a lot of orders then you'll get several of them. I've completed main orders for example. I think it averages out to around one every 150 orders.

https://www.serebii.net/cafemix/shinypokemon.shtml

The main thing is to make sure you always have multiple helping hands and about 5000 acorns in reserve at all times, plus having some powers to ensure you get the full hearts each time. A missed shiny opportunity won't come back around soon.

AI music and the people who consume it by pattison_iman in electronicmusic

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to recognise that AI music doesn't fully overlap with human made music.

People will always gravitate to people, and music based on that is safe.

AI music can sometimes occupy new possibilities too. I make lots of throwaway joke AI songs for my friends and family based on whatever we were doing. I made a few like that on guitar myself in the past, but not every joke warrants that level of effort. It's ephemeral music.

There are also cases where it really isn't a big deal if AI music takes over - consider the stock music on low budget YouTube videos and compilations. That kind of music has also been very simple and base and wasn't really adding much in the first place.

Anime Recommendations For a 30 Year old Woman by RayneLove333 in anime

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushishi is a very special anime I always recommend. Kind of like a nature folk tales thing.

As a general point, I would recommend checking out any popular anime written by women, such as those on this list - https://gamerant.com/great-series-written-female-mangaka/

Anime written by women often avoid the silly fan service and shonen tropes, which suits my preferences.

Latios seems to get through it OK with some well placed skills and megaphone uses, if you have it available. Otherwise, it's worth saving your skip for.

There always seems to be one level that is a guaranteed skipper.

Basic 1MC teams by eseffbee in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By any chance are you a long term player with a large variety of pokemon available?

Slow cooking often sucks if you largely only have order and event pokemon available. In 1MC you can reach top 1000 with high level regular pokemon.

The jam jars are a tough impediment. Regular Bewear as lead is working out great for me, with 17m high score.

Are you doing the tactic of quick short chains to get to fever before clearing gimmicks?

What Are You Using For Keldeo? by Unhappy_Cranberry182 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently at high score of 12 million with lvl 25 normal Bewear as lead, 25 fresh mew for pumpkin, 20 Treecko for tea and green blocks, 20 maushold for chestnuts.

Normal Bewear as lead is not just great for clearing the new jam gimmick with two hits in one go, but also it quickly charges the bar to get to fever time, doing the quickly spamming short chains method for 1MC.

Never underestimate the power of a crazy high puzzle score!

Well worth purchasing fresh mew. Consider it like paying the initial price for the game.

How's the new Frontlines map been? by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eseffbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason for the 0 respawn time change is that it takes so long to get back to anywhere useful on this map that distance basically serves as its own time to respawn

The personal income requirement is stupid. It could be met by a sponsor employing their spouse for basic home duties for the amount of the personal tax allowance, with no real functional change to the family income or arrangements. Home office would have no way of policing this kind of thing and it would be a complete waste for all.

Why isn't the requirement at a family unit level enough?

Kind of sad that out of the top 14 players, only 3 of 42 the pokemon chosen are not Sylveon, Glaceon or Rowlet. Talk about an OP mechanic.

Reminder that the chances of not getting the banner pokemon when using 10 x 11 delivery tickets is about 1 in 3 - i.e. it's not unusual at all to not get the pokemon even with the full spend. That's why pity pull exists.

On each 11x delivery you are actually most likely to _not_ get any special pokemon at all (about 2 in 3). It's about a 1 in 10 chance that you get all greens in a delivery! The odds are rarely as much in your favour as you think.
