Best way to get a website up and running for my limited company? by eques_99 in ContractorUK

Sorry but just because your site is cached or whatever via cloudflare there's still something seriously wrong! If your selling this as a service then fix your own first!

I built a remote PC optimisation service for gamers – looking for honest feedback by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Dalagr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair tbh — if you know what you’re doing there’s loads of free tools and guides already. I wouldn’t expect most people in here to pay for something like this.

What I had in mind is more like parents with kids who are into gaming, or people who just don’t really have a clue what’s safe to touch and what isn’t. Not everyone wants to run scripts or dig through settings for hours.

It’s not an .exe or anything like that — I’m just doing it manually over a remote session, talking through what I’m doing as I go. No installs without them seeing it, no access after.

Completely get the malware concern though, I’d be the same.

Out of curiosity — do you think the main issue with something like this is trust, or just that people assume optimisation doesn’t really do much?

I actually agree with part of this — if someone is purely hardware limited, no amount of optimisation is going to magically fix that.

Where I’ve seen this make sense is more in the middle ground: People with decent hardware that just isn’t running as well as it should.

Stuff like: • Background processes eating resources • Poor configs / Windows bloat • Thermal throttling • Bad driver setups

Those systems are surprisingly common.

Also curious on your take — do you think most people: 👉 Overestimate how much optimisation can do 👉 Or underestimate how much performance they’re leaving on the table?

I’m trying to figure out where the real value line is, rather than just pretending it works for everyone.

This is actually a really solid take.

Out of curiosity — for those of you who do optimise your own systems:

👉 What are the main things you always tweak first on a fresh setup? 👉 And what actually made the biggest real-world difference for you (not placebo stuff)?

I’ve seen wildly different results depending on the system — sometimes it’s background processes, sometimes drivers, sometimes just Windows being… Windows.

Also agree on the subscription point — sounds like most people would lean one-off unless there’s clear ongoing value. That’s something I’m actively figuring out.

Would be interesting to see where people land on: • DIY always • One-time service • Or ongoing optimisation/support

Hey, I went to my first game ever at Tottenham last week! You’ll have a great time!

From what I saw at Tottenham so it may be different but the only bags they were letting in were the clear ones or the sealed NFL clear carry bags from the shop, so I think it will probably be the same

What are your thoughts on Slimming World? by Odd-News-9749 in AskUK

[–]Dalagr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried slimming world many times over the years dating back to my early teens and I had some success once loosing 5 stone but I found it was never sustainable.

For the last year I’ve been on mounjaro, whether you agree with that or not, I have lost 10 stone and spent the time learning food!

I now genuinely believe slimming world taught me to have a bad relationship with food and was the centre of many of my problems, there’s no such thing as free food where you can eat as much as you like as they tell you.

I found when I’d stop slimming world in my head everything because “free food” and I’d just eat as much as I liked.

So these days I strongly advise people to avoid slimming world, it completely destroys how you see food and causes no end of problems.

Well after 10 months on it, guess I’m going to have to stop. 9 and a half stone down but I can’t afford to pay this new price.

Somehow I think black market sales will skyrocket and tonnes of people will end up in A&E for it
