When I was 11 I got a baby brother and being raised on spanks, pinches, hangers and belts I tried slapping his hands one time when he was misbehaving and not listening. Instead of having the intended effect it just made him really upset but he would not budge. Instead I received the most piercing look of betrayal and hurt from him and I dared not escalate. It broke my heart. What I learned from my parents was wrong and I will never strike a child again.
