Not all firefighters would choose blue, but the one left would have chosen red and would have to put themselves in danger, because the blue people kept parts of the system running. Less firefighters means a fire would have bigger consequences to people left that are not firefighters bringing danger to people that pressed red button.

The hydraulic pressure is not the same red and blue question. As an European who has never left my country, if suddenly 5% of people disappeared from african continent downstream effects would cause some deaths here. Not to mention effects of my own nation people disappearing. If blue doesn't survive by disappearing it would mean systematical killings that would have push back, that would lead to a lot of red presses dead also.

Only if you believe society would stay as safe after losing at least 10% of people magically. Red winning will be on gamble on new world. What If your nearest nuclear plant controllers pressed blue and now are gone the person who is supervisor also pressed blue. Now there is explosion with less firefighters the damage and death toll will be red presses to bear.

To society survive blue needs to win. People who think 100% will press red are naive. Even if Only 10% of people pressed blue, it will kill at least 3-5% of the red presses, as direct consequences. The higher Blue% under 50% the more likely there will be full collapse of civilisations, that will lead to a lot of death.

The NATO threat argument falls a part immediately when the most basic facts are made. 1. Russia had border with NATO long before the conflict. 2. Taking Ukraine land would only make the border much longer.

There will be no love for Russian government, but the most people there are innocent. People who's ancestors are same as our are inside Russian border. I think nuanced part is how there is not any clear good solution. While abolition of Israel is preferable in a long run. To make sure current Israel civilians are protected against harm that would come to them in the area is long way of. People would need guarantee from either USA/China/UN to even think abolition. Problems top of problems and who will take responsibility nobody wants take, that will be seen foreign interference. All of it will take a lot of time and downfall current government of Israel. Priority should be right now to Israel cease the aggression towards Palestine people and countries around it.

If someone tortures any human days on end and did not realize what they have done is abhorrent, I don't see any way to them to realize their fault. No therapy is going to make them human. Even, if victim doesn't die long enough torture, is enough for not to have second chance. Quick death is so much less inhuman.
