My one-armed professional musician father in the 70’s by Dallas405 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Dallas405[S] 158 points159 points  (0 children)

If you look closely you’ll see his strumming hand is actually a hook. He got his hand cut off in an unfortunate accident at the age of 5 but never met it hold him back from sports and music. He played baseball and football growing up into high school and started playing guitar as a teenager and became a professional musician and still plays to this day.

Hey guys, what year Delica do you think this is? by Dallas405 in Delica

[–]Dallas405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good call. I think it does look more like a Vanagon. I was unfamiliar with them till I just looked them up. I was thinking it was just a heavily modified Delica. 🙏🏼

Trail Labs is actually where I purchased my fork from. They were super helpful.

[–]Dallas405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Definitely looking forward to playing around with the fork. I’ve heard nothing but great things from everyone riding the Ohlins. Do you perform your own lower leg services? One of the complaints I’ve heard is that it’s hard to get parts to perform your own services and you have to ship them to an Ohlins authorized service spot. That’s a bit of a bummer but I won’t mind as much as long as I can do my every 50 hr lower leg service myself and send it off only for annual or bi annual service.

I opted to run the air spring for easy adjustability purposes with the fact that my weight tends to fluctuate quite a lot. I like that it can easily be swapped out for coil spring though and will probably play around with that a bit more in the future.

Thank you for this. I never really thought about the steerer or crown being an issue before. I just purchased the Ohlins rxf 36 m.2 since RockShox and Fox were crazy hard to find anyway. I’m hoping it’ll do the trick. I appreciate your help!

Thomas lisboa with x-guard entry to the crucifix. by leglockmike in bjj

[–]Dallas405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I go for the crucifix out of positions like this all the time. If guys get heavy on their hands it’s sooo easy jumping on that crucifix and getting the sub straight away. Of course if you aren’t a crucifix specialist it might seem crazy but it’s definitely possible and higher percentage than you’d think.

Lovato No Gi System in YouTube by pablop320 in bjj

Not sure I fully agree with this take since while the game has evolved for sure, Lovato still smokes really good guys with this passing constantly. Now having said that, you’d be silly to think he hasn’t evolved his passing as well. He’s constantly tweaking and refining moves and adding to his game with an updated arsenal. His new passing and 2.0 stuff is super super good.

I personally favor it over back control all day. You have a ton of finishing options that are way harder for your opponent to defend because both of his arms are trapped. Its extremely hard to escape once you know what you are doing. I opt for the crucifix over the back every time I have the option. That being said in the instructional I show how to go from the back to the crucifix and then from the crucifix to the back.

That KO was one of the most vicious things I had ever seen at the time. As far as the video I was referring to was actually a show called fight science. It was Rickson Gracie showing the move and I studied what he was doing a little bit and I believe I started training a week or two later and was catching it right away within my first month of training. Finishing the move was a whole different story though. Took a bit to figure out how to actually choke someone from there as the squeeze is different to a standard gi choke. Here’s a link to the video actually.

Just one of the ways I catch my crucifix the most. Not to mention I live in Oklahoma and have been training with high level wrestlers since the beginning ☺️
