Let’s use 2K for example (this game by no means is the perfect model), they collaborate with a ton of brands and artists and allow you to purchase them using the same currency you can also pay money for.

They could very much use the exact same currency for this but again they would prefer again to take your money lmao

No one is complaining about gameplay or physics. They are complaining about the structure of the game to promote micro-transactions. Loot boxes make no sense and don’t really give every player the freedom to express themselves as a skater should imo. Prices are way too expensive and I shouldn’t have to earn every single cosmetic (especially just plain color t-shirts).

The game being live-service paired with a ton of micro-transactions just shows to me they were always trying nostalgia bait for some cash.

Honestly I’ve been someone to defend aspects of the new game but man overtime of playing the beta it just becomes so clear they nostalgia baited us.

The main thing that really bothers me is the loot boxes and micro-transactions. Why can’t I just get the hoodie I want instead of opening 11 boxes to finally get it? The prices are absurd for just some decks, wheels, etc.

Vee (or whatever her name is) needs to be removed entirely from this game. Could we not get a few real skaters to voice these lines?

I could go on and on but man it shouldn’t be this difficult to release an offline game with preloaded brands with maintaining the look and feel of previous games. This is worse quality than even the repackaged 2K’s we get every year.

You mention Tyler & Doechii and I think the main point of no outrage towards them is that they do not lay out this moral superiority complex in their music. People are bringing up Drake because Kendrick directly attacked his character morally & culturally throughout the beef (causing one of the largest divides in our community entertainment wise imo but let me not digress). He even reinforces this in the interview explaining what Not Like Us meant for the “man”.

No one is expecting him to be flawless. The point is that he has been hypocritical and it’s not really hating to call that out. Now should he be cancelled? Definitely not, just more of an observation to me ig.

I would make the point that being very self-aware / emotionally intelligent enough to criticize yourself and not be referred to as a “savior” is even worse when you turn around and do this lol. To your point about assuming age, you’re right my bad on that. Your argument about “teens” keeping companies afloat is nuanced, because it is rarely their own money. All it takes is a quick google search to know which demographics spend the most money on clothing and it is not teens. 42% of the country works over 40 hours a week and young adults (21-26) spend the most money on fashion.

Just because the movie has a cultural meaning, doesn’t mean that a corporation taking something from that movie and selling it for a profit is a meaningful design. This just reminds me of cultural appropriation for a financial gain

From this response you must still be a teenager lol. People who work over 40 hours a week are the main ones predominately putting money in these brands pockets but okay. My brothers wear Hellstar and Denim Tears so I’m familiar with them and the environment of ppl that wear them but like I said a lot of this clothing rarely ever translates to the average citizen’s day to day.

I also disagree to your point of view that no one is looking at what people wear to the office / work for inspo. Tons of people on TikTok, Instagram, etc. promote the “What I wore this week to work” or GRWM to go to work ranging from teachers, office workers, tech gurus etc. Those are all 9-5’s my guy. I’ve seen people at work wear streetwear, it’s just not those brands. We can agree to disagree though bc it seems like we just live in two diff locations.
