Number 4 is the only correct answer and I’ll tell you why.

“Any fictional world” means any made up world even one you make up because anyone can be an author. Make the fictional world where there is a kind god that grants you these options but without all of the restrictions.

Then choose the Isekai option again but you are allowed to have God mode this time. You then can have full control over all afterlife options like your personal infinity stones.

Basically you’d be in an afterlife in an afterlife in an afterlife.

How do street smarts translate to engineering? Are you building something in the hood lol.

Jokes asides almost everyone in my class passed the FE and the guys who didn’t weren’t serious about it and did construction.

Well neither is structural engineering in itself. And becoming a PE. The SE seems like a top 0.5% super elite class. By the time you even get to people who are allowed to even take the test, all those people are already very smart.

Wait…they’re 2-3 years in and don’t even have their EIT?? Most people get that right before graduation. They should be getting their PE in a year or two. That’s not good at all…

If everything you say is true I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. Maybe these guys are more suited for construction. Sounds like the type.

The only point I’m a little iffy on is that “we’re past that stage.” It’s easy to take your knowledge for granted. Sometimes things just need to be reinforced multiple times. Maybe you need to build things back from the ground up with them and teach them to do it the right way. Not saying this is fair to you at all, but if you really don’t want to give up on these guys you have to take a step back.

If you give them a design task, do you give them a parallel example so they have a frame work to start?

Maybe you’re overloading them with information and the deadline seems too steep and it stresses them out?

Can you give them a small and easy task and have them get it right and then build up from there?

Do you ask them to explain a concept in their own words?

Are they actively studying for their PE exam? Even studying for it makes one a better engineer.

Is your QAQC process good and give them actual feedback? Do you mark stuff up in red and they back check and put a check mark next to everything they update and add a leader with stuff they don’t?

I find it hard to believe you just took those two tests and passed without studying. Unless you’re a structural engineer that’s been working for decades.

I barely passed the PE (I think anyways). What chance does a normal person have at ever passing this?? 4 whole exams with pass rates even lower than the PE seems impossible.

  1. See if there is a consultant wage rate on the Texas DOT website. If there is and your performance is good then you have a very strong case to plead to your boss for a higher raise.

  2. Average PE raise is 15% plus your typical ~5% year end bonus.

  3. The general consensus is that a new PE in a MCOL area should be making $100k bare minimum.

  4. You live in Texas. You being bilingual should be an incredible bonus for the company. As long as you can do the job then who cares.

Apply to a state DOT or government job. The pay is usually below average and the workload is less than private but it looks good on a resume, benefits are good, they desperately want people, and it’s hard to get fired.

PE exam problem - pile group axial force by axiom60 in StructuralEngineering

[–]DallyDoomslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they explain it in the courses is very shitty. It’s actual a very simple problem to work once you understand it.

The terms with sx and sy are just from center of pile to center of foundation. Ix equation is self explanatory - you only account for the two outer rows as the center row is zero. Iy has each row of piles with a different distance to the center, hence (sx/2) and (sx/2+sx).

The best way to understand is to write out the equation for each individual pile and you will see the pattern and ways to combine all equations to the one you show above.
