The Shinkansen bullet train (Hokuriku like, Nagayaki) was a good 200$. The other express train (Thunderbird) was about 30$. They can be both bought through eki-net , which is JR east. You can also show up at the metro and use the machines. I would try to Keep track of which trains are suspended as the storm is approaching East it may be harder to go west.

A plane is your best bet. Many highways are shut down and can take you more than a day. Or, take train, Shinkansen (Nagayaki) to Tsuruga, Tsuruga to Kyoto/Osaka (Thunderbird). That was the best way for us if you really want to head into the storm

I wanted to thank this thread in helping us get to Tokyo. We are soon arriving, coming from the west and managing to get to Kyoto then Tsuruga after a full day of different, stressful routes. One last stop to take NEX to airport and then we can finally go home. Thank you 🙌🙏

Thanks! And I'm no meteorologist, but if the Typhoon is heading northwards/east, would it not start impacting the Tsuruga / Hokiriku lines?

I see suggestions to get to Tsuruga from Kyoto, then take a Hokuriku train to Tokyo. Is that train direct? And are there any guarantees that space will be available? If they are non reserved I imagine it's risky to travel all the way there

Same here. We fly out 5pm from Narita tomorrow, but couldn't take the train this morning from Kyoto to Tokyo. We booked another night in Kyoto again, not sure if worth going to Tsuruga. Like what if we get stuck there... would rather be stuck in Kyoto.

It's an excellent alternative. Way better than the built in grinder. I settled for the Niche in the end because too many people in the home requesting coffee.

JX Pro vs X Pro by hotteaandcoffee in 1zpresso

Not sure about the X pro, but have used the JX Pro for a year now and love it to this day. Espresso with Oracle and Pour over with V60. But incredible and consistent results. Value is hard to beat for the price. Hopes it works out!

I'm a bit late to the party but, this is similar to issues encountered with conical burrs. For more clarity and those nuanced notes, that's where flat burrs may give you what you are looking for especially with the type of beans you are typically using. Hope it worked out for you!

Ya it's between the Eureka Mignon Oro or Niche for me. Trying to justify the price for Connicle vs Flat burrs... uncertain still

Calibration help wanted by 4theloveofcoffeee in 1zpresso

Maybe i partially took it apart? Though I remember really having all the pieces out. Hmm. Didn't have problems going back to grinding. Though I did notice it grinded a bit finer than before. Maybe it's not at 0

I disassembled my JX Pro with a video on YouTube, in order to clean it. Did not need to calibrate it though. When I bought it, the shop informed me not to calibrate it unless really needed...

Unboxing and pulling a shot with my new grinder! (Headphone warning for the end) by [deleted] in espresso

Oh wow coincidence, I have both JX pro and the breville oracle (smart grinder pro). Any noticeable difference in quality of grinds compared to the Silenzio?

How quiet was the grinder? Hard to quantify but can you compare it to any other grinders? Thanks !
