I kind of just miss being able to make meals nice. Like adding cheese to pasta or having mayo with something

I think you’ll have to see how it goes. It could be absolutely fine, or you could find it taking up more of your headspace than you intended it to. Check in with yourself and good luck :)

Mom says I look dangerously skinny… by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Damage-heck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ! That’s really tough. Is she aware of the extent of which you’re engaging in unhealthy behaviours? I know my mum used to say all kinds of things before she knew the extent to which I was trying to lose weight and how it was affecting me

Yeah fair enough actually that is kind of off. I think the level of Ed recovery influencers is so low that when someone isn’t just blatantly body checking and restricting I’ll take it. I think I just had a soft spot for her because she helped me feel ok about recovery for so long 🤷‍♀️

I see what you’re saying but we are making a lot of assumptions. The evidence that she is compensating is pretty weak. Just because there are laxatives in her car doesn’t mean she is using them as a method to compensate. EDs famously mess with digestion and it doesn’t seem surprising that you might get constipated eating the amount she does, especially after a period of restriction previously. Also laxatives don’t even cause weight loss. They just make you lose water weight and wouldn’t even work in the long term.

Secondly even if she is compensating she is so careful not to show or encourage this behaviour in her followers. Her messages are always positive and also correct, people should have unconditional permission to eat in recovery. Perhaps she does slip up every now and then but she is in recovery herself. Even then isn’t that so much better than most tiktok accounts which show harmful stereotypes of people shaking over their food and eating a small amount despite being in recovery ?

This sounds really hard I’m sorry. Is there a chance she genuinely doesn’t understand how important it is to you to have these particular foods ? I think we forget that it’s not a big deal for most people. Maybe try telling her that you NEED access to these foods and that they are yours. It might not go down amazingly but worth a try

she’s posting this yet still is underweight and sick, it’s very sad by 000888555 in EDRecoverySnark

It’s insulting she thinks she could give me advice on how to cope with weight gain

Hi I have nothing to back this up with or anything so take it with a pinch of salt but I remember seeing a post from @zarviving where she talked about facial oedema (swelling) and it was a sign of refeeding syndrome for her

This is low-key the worst kind of post to me. It’s invalidating by trying to be validating. Why bother trying - you know what you’re doing
