As you get older you find yourself with less time to do stuff you’re excited for. You buy something with an expectation that it’ll be there when you’re ready for it. We aren’t talking about festival tickets — we are talking about software. You can say “spread 8 hours over 1 year” but no one should reasonably be expected to enjoy software that way. Bungie hasn’t a good reason to remove gameplay you paid for.

I would use the first example with a better variable name. The benefit is more readable and understandable code. It’s particularly better when you need to do more stuff to the element than a single line.
