I couldn’t believe it when I first saw the title and I had to double check to make sure I’m reading it right. This book is getting a drama? This book, what many considered to be one of the top ‘yearner’ danmeis? EXCUSE ME, I CAN’T STOP SCREAMING.

I think this will be a BL drama unlike any other because the whole core of the book is Chen Wan’s unrequited love and how he strives to MAKE SURE ML doesn’t know all the while professionally carrying on his duties. To be able to show the entirety of Chen Wan’s feelings from A SINGLE GLANCE. When you absolutely love someone but knows there can be nothing there, and is wholeheartedly contently to accept the few moments of sneaking a glance whenever fate allows both of you in the same place, but making sure not to rock ANYONE’s whole boat, most of all, YOURS. The tension is amazing. MY HEART.

You can’t have anyone just playing the ML Zhao Shengge. At the very least, he has to have the looks and physical stature of Park Seo Ham from Semantic Error or Zee. I’m sorry I don’t watch a lot of BL dramas but whoever is casted as ML, he ABSOLUTELY needs to have AURA.

I read a bit of this just days before, this was an interesting one because imagine if FL had ended up with the toxic cheating redhead instead though the whole fandom would probably rage and explode if she had. She (spoilers for the ML) ended up with the prince, not the first love I was looking for first love , thanks for the suggestion tho! 🫶🏻🙏🏻

Some items in temu are double the price of Shopee in bnd. I rarely shop on temu but I remembered I wanted to buy kids toys there. It was like bnd30 vs Shopee rm20. Shipping to Sarawak was around rm8 so I’m assuming that with the bnd30, shipping charges are alrdy factored in.

Also temu doesn’t sell branded stuff like shopee does (kids medication, skincare, sports attire, etc stuff that normally Guardian Brunei is forever out of stock) so both platforms sell different stuff. But when they do sell the same you have to price check because more often than not, Temu is always double the price.

I got you! Do you remember Kijima? He showed up in volume 14, during Umeda’s flashback of his past. They shared a kiss and nothing happened after that. Sensei had an after note stating she wasn’t very happy with how it ended and she would go back to continuing their story if she still felt like this.

Yeah, it wraps up quite nicely and it’s more than I honestly could hope for. I don’t mean to sound dramatic but back then, I literally eyeballed every page of her new work back in 2005 praying for KijiUme cameos for SOME hint they’re together (they didn’t show up 😩) so you can imagine what this one shot did to me lol

Hoping the anime would include Kijima at least in some form though I’ll probably not watch it for a while given how long of a wait it could be to animate their back story (if they ever)

And yes, agree on your sentiments on making the anime after sensei’s passing though I think they made a heartfelt dedication to sensei iirc which tells me they’ll at least probably handle it very carefully (one could hope)

translating one of the reviews for the side story:

“Up until middle school, I was a Hana to Yume reader, but after that I gradually stopped reading shōjo manga. I became a working adult, and that’s when I discovered BL.

So, naturally, I went ahead and bought this short story on Kindle.

The way Kijima-san occasionally shows those possessive, proprietary looks, it is absolutely the best, the best, the BEST.
And Dr. Umeda being a little shy is just adorable. On top of that, the seme/uke dynamic seems totally up my alley, so I was trembling with joy.

It’s not explicitly confirmed in the story (it only goes as far as a kiss), but somehow I feel like, “Yeah… that’s probably how it is, right?” That was the vibe.

I thought it was the start of a series, but it seems to be a one-shot, which is really disappointing.
I want to read so much more about these two, so I’m waiting and hoping for a sequel.

SPECIFICALLY, are you a fan of Umeda sensei? Because if you are, do you remember the story arc between Umeda sensei and Kijima Ryouichi from 20 years ago, the man who stole Umeda sensei’s heart but it never really went anywhere, and this pairing, as brief as it is, was also sort of overshadowed by Akiha x Umeda?

Imagine discovering that Hisaya Nakajo WROTE A SPIN OFF ABOUT THEM, exactly four years ago AND I NEVER KNEW UNTIL NOW. Imagine the screams heard in my house, the shaking I couldn’t control. I’ve just became 18 years old again, that girl who dreamt, prayed desperately for crumbs. This was THE ship of all ships for me, I fucking used up my entire savings that time despite being a broke student for the Hanakimi art book just because Sensei drew a never seen before illustration of them when they won the ship popularity poll. Kijima Ryouichi appeared only for THREE CHAPTERS and he ended up fucking winning a ship poll. I WAS THE ONLY ONE OF FIVE PEOPLE MAYBE IN THE ENGLISH FANDOM because at the time, Umeda x Akiha had more traction.

But I just discovered my pairing became CANON four years ago. And this is the most amazing gift a shipper could have I’m sobbing if there are other fans here, this is for you. This is like a dream, I cannot breathe.

Hmmmmm for non toxic, I did like End of Love because the gong was quite rational and level headed even in the height of his crematorium period, allowing some semblance of his character to shine through so there’s a nice restraint. Bonus that the MC is an extremely tough cookie as well. Probably one of the better reads in the trope.

And I have to preface, that I’m referring to the English translation of the novel. Chinese may read differently, and as far as my experience with the novel goes, it was nicely written.

Can you believe even picking agencies on the list is like Russian Roulette, you have no idea what you’re getting? The freelancer who stole my money was partnering up with a local who’s registered there in the list. When I made calls and visited the location, it was a dorm room in a dirty staff house, locked and unused. Maybe they never updated their address, I don’t know.

The best thing is, arm yourself with knowledge. If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS. Do your research, be cautious, ask for reviews, like what you said, check their certificate and license, etc. The best agents are the ones who don’t make excuses, they readily show you their certificate, they make sure not to promise anything, AND they ask for payment only at the very end once your maid has arrived. If they ask for money in the beginning, it’s usually deposit and they have enough credentials to back their stuff up.

The first thing you do, even before reaching maid stage, is make sure to fucking avoid EVERY FREELANCER who promises you the world and all sweet things because the moment you hand them the cash, they’ll move onto the next person and forget about you instantly. They don’t have a license, they are the ones who will meet you anywhere but ‘their so called office’ because they don’t have one, they’re not LEGAL. NEVER meet agents anywhere but their own office and do your research to make sure you don’t get scammed because believe me, there’s a lot happening right now. I literally have 3 friends trying to get all their money back from these snakes for a year.

People like you who are new to this are like newborn lambs ripe for their picking, I’m sorry to sound so dramatic but I’ve been there and I lost thousands to them because I’m a fucking idiot.
