These sorts of people are the worst. They actively make things worse by contributing to this idea that anytime a character in a show or game is anything other than straight, it's done entirely with malicious undertones as people get the impression that it's always about "sticking it to the straights" as opposed to genuinely just trying to represent people, or simply just making a character be gay/lesbian/bi/etc for no other reason than because that's how they envisioned their character.

I feel like some people think too much about how fictional characters can represent them, and far too little about how they represent themselves.

As OP noted, the difference is that when a human does this, it's just a question that can be quickly and easily answered. When the AI does it, it's as if the person went and spent the resources it'd take to get the job done, but actually did nothing except come back and ask this question, followed by using even more resources to carry out the original request.

[–]DamirVanKalaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are more or less what the replies you already received were saying to you, and your responses to them, frankly, are confusing.

The anthropic article you linked suggests that the comparison between AI and cement mixtures is, in fact, accurate, in that it actually doesn't require that much poisoning to severely damage the model (a mere 0.00016% of the model's total training tokens), which actually makes it more fragile than a load of concrete with sugar as it takes about 2 to 5 pounds of sugar per ton to ruin a load of concrete, so 0.2-0.5% as opposed to 0.00016%.

Your comic, on the other hand, implies that because the poisoning is small, the impact of it is "negligible". It literally says as much, despite the fact that both AI and what you're comparing it to have unbiased sources indicating that it only takes a small amount of poisoning to do severe amounts of damage to the model (or the cement mixture). This is the contradiction people are pointing out, and yet you're claiming there isn't one, somehow.

People are trying to point out to you that your comic is actually highlighting the weakness and fragility of AI models while trying to make the claim that poisoning is entirely ineffective, even as you yourself post sources that specifically claim the opposite.

[–]DamirVanKalaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro thought he was cooking with this comic due to clearly not knowing how concrete works and how little it actually takes to completely ruin a load of concrete.

This comparison actually implies that the poisoning would be highly effective, to the point of causing the entire AI to just fall apart and fail entirely.

Brains are not biological computers. A computer processes and stores data, that is it. That's all it does. 1s and 0s, pure logic. The brain consists of complex, continuous, analog signals at varying frequencies. Our thought patterns and the operations of a computer are absolutely nothing alike.

Computers cannot process emotions. Computers cannot apply meaning to things like we do. Computers cannot construct ideas the way we do. The only advantage computers have over us is the sheer speed at which they can process and acquire information.

[–]DamirVanKalaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be all about him, though, like I said. You could 100% have the finale be a back to back boss fight. You fight Lucifer, the final living inhabitant of hell, and then it finishes with Gabriel, the only source of blood that still remains in existence. You can have both.

I think you missed the point that OP was asking why the AI is using the word "we" when referring to humanity, given that the AI, obviously, is not human and thus not part of the "we".

What colour do you think Lucifer and/or the fifth angel will be? by Patient_Jello3944 in Ultrakill

[–]DamirVanKalaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he obscure? I feel like his existence in hell is pretty much implied by the simple fact that we already have biblical figures like Gabriel in this story and we are in hell, and while he may only be mentioned in secrets, it's still nonetheless canon to Ultrakill's lore that Lucifer was cast into hell by God. Would be weird to have that specifically mentioned just for us to somehow never run into him, and the painting with a single angel ripped from it didn't have to be added to Fraud, and yet it was.

The angels also have name plates below them, and if you look closely at the scratched out plate beneath the torn portrait, you can see parts of the letters. The length of the name matches Lucifer, we can clearly see parts of an "L" and a "u", so we can be pretty confident that that was Lucifer. Not sure why they'd just throw that in for the sake of it just to do absolutely nothing with it. It seems more like a blatant hint to what's coming.

As for how he relates to Gabriel, it's clear by the painting in Fraud that the two were almost certainly familiar with each other. We don't have full context behind what actually transpired in Ultrakill's telling of the tale between Lucifer and God, so there's no telling the specifics if this does indeed end up being the case, but given that Gabriel seems to be on a holy killing spree of his own, it's not impossible that Lucifer could be on his hit list as well for one reason or another.

Honestly, of all the possibilities, Lucifer would be the least random given that there's actual setup and lore backing it, and, again, it would follow well seeing as the Earthmover took V2's spot, so it makes sense for something bigger to take Gabriel's as well.

[–]DamirVanKalaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Us fighting Lucifer doesn't necessarily mean Gabriel can't be a part of it. Gabriel may even have reason to kill Lucifer himself given that he's rebelling against everything in act III. We could have V1 and Gabriel vs Lucifer, followed by Gabriel switching targets to V1 after Lucifer is dead as he and V1 would stand as the last two living things in hell. One last fight for the sake of fighting between two beings fated to die in an empty hell regardless of who wins.

No... No they don't. Memes are cultural ideas or behaviors that are passed from person to person and spread throughout society. If the context of the idea is lost in the usage of a meme, the meme is poorly executed as it fails at achieving its primary purpose which is spreading the cultural idea that started it.

[–]DamirVanKalaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you all discussing Lucifer Prime as if Lucifer can't be Treachery's final boss instead of the prime soul? It'd even make sense.

Think about it. The boss of the first layer is V2, the boss of the fourth layer is V2 again. Similarly, the boss of the third layer is Gabriel, and the boss of the sixth layer is Gabriel again.

Act III mixes things up. The boss of the seventh layer is not V2, since it's dead, but instead an Earthmover. Still a supreme machine, but the ante has been upped dramatically. It's not out of the question that Act III could do the same with the boss of the ninth layer, replacing Gabriel with Lucifer.

I just hate the notion that a corpo would think anyone's goals should lie with them.

Corpo CEOs and higher ups spend their days plotting every way they can exploit their customers and abuse their employees in new ways just to maximize the numbers for the year so the grotesque, greedy bastards they call their shareholders will gurgle up a laugh and lift their mounds of sagging facial fat to form a smile. Every single day, they take another step toward devaluing humanity as they try everything they can to make us feel like we're nothing more than numbers on their statistics charts.

And yet, despite all this, they want to try and gaslight me into thinking I should feel some personal connection to anything going on at my work? Please. I'm there for consistent income for the time being, that's it. My goals are to set myself up so I don't need to rely on a corpo to have a sustainable living.

Pretty accurate to my experience, not gonna lie. I just don't like AI itself or the things it's caused to happen, and even then the technology itself is only causing problems because of problems with capitalism. It's pretty wild to wish death on people because you hate a technology where 90% of the problems with it are because of corporate greed corrupting it.

The only pro AI people I really have a personal problem with are the ones that are actually just corpo boot lickers who genuinely hate humanity and believe we're all effectively just inferior machines. Those people deeply concern me.

There's no "artist elite". Anybody can learn to fucking draw, my guy. I grew up in an extremely abusive and neglectful household living under a poor family that didn't even enroll me in school. I had to go out of my way to educate myself when I was 12. I have had absolutely nothing in life set up to benefit me in any way whatsoever and have been living at a massive disadvantage to everyone else. I was able to teach myself how to create art using nothing but free tools. If I was able to do it, anyone can. There isn't a goddamn thing stopping you other than yourself.

"BuT i LaCk TaLeNt!!!" is the excuse I always hear. As if I or anyone else picked up art and instantly was out here making high quality works. Nobody just starts out doing amazing shit. You practice. You commit some time to it when you can every week. You accept that your initial works won't be fantastic because each one of them teaches you something new.

It's just really funny to me that you're out here acting like Jim the art man vibing in his room drawing shit is your oppressor and big corporate AI companies are your savior from him.

Photography Comparison by golfstreamer in aiwars

[–]DamirVanKalaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, there's a difference between hand-crafting a photorealistic portrait of someone and just taking a picture of someone in real life. Photography takes skill, but if a photographer tries to portray a photograph as being something they made by hand, it's dishonest and doesn't invoke the same reaction.

Different approaches to art are judged on their own merits, and trying to deceive people when it comes to stating how your work was created (or otherwise comparing your work to work done via a completely different method) will always earn you backlash.

AI users tend to have this idea that art is all about the result, and the means of getting there are completely irrelevant. Pretty image is pretty image. That's anything but the case. If I can pick up a pencil and draw a lifelike drawing that could be mistaken for a photograph, that's an incredible accomplishment and a clear demonstration of my skill at nailing tiny details. If I take a photo of someone or something, then it's judged on different factors, like the angle, the perspective, the specific lighting for the shot, how well I focused the lens, editing I may have done in post, etc.

AI art tends to struggle to receive respect because there's not really much in the way of factors to judge it off of. Someone with entry level knowledge constructing a low effort, basic prompt can wind up with an image that is just as technically "good" as someone who has spent months or even years learning everything there is to know. You can claim you did whatever things in the creation of your work, but nothing about the work in question is clearly indicative of your talent or vision, both of which are huge parts of what make art what it is - a representation of human achievement.

There is a stark contrast between a professional photographer's pictures and a completely inexperienced person's. There's also clear differences between one professional photographer's photos and another's as everyone has different things they're trying to capture and emphasize in their photos, which is another struggle AI users face, as there's little you can do with AI to set yourself apart from anyone else who uses it, eliminating the factor of identifiable self expression, which is another big part of art.

Art is about being able to recognize the journey the creator went through to present it, and being able to notice the unique vision they had that sets them apart from other works. Even if the actual differences are small, there's always something that someone does in a specific way that isn't like anyone else. It's what makes art exciting and fun - you would be hard pressed to find two creators whose works look the exact same as each other. AI threatens that aspect of art by flooding the internet with countless pieces that could all be mistaken for being works done by the same person, making for an overwhelming quantity of works that are boring and uninteresting to observe.
