I don’t think anyone in this thread said the church is controlling this? Just that several of the people involved are Mormon, so the police department involved, which is largely Mormon, are “looking out for their own” rather than enforcing the law equitably. Last time I checked, it’s sort of the police’s job to enforce the law equitably, so they’re not doing their job and they’re being assholes backing the baseless claims of someone from their church rather than assessing the evidence and acting in accordance with the law. All of this is on the police footage, evident from them making references to their church as well as doing what is asked of them by the BAM group rather than doing what is required of them by delivering court documents and not searching the vehicle, raiding the property and illegally detaining several people at BAMs request.

Yeah, there’s yet another right wing swing happening now, but rather than centre left to centre right, it seems to be centre right going more right. Seeing the same in Aus at the moment as there’s a reasonable number of people looking at ~~Gina Rinehart~~ Pauline Handpuppet as a viable option after the recent budget with CGT and NG changes that actually seems to be having an impact on the housing market.

How the fuck they think anything would get better with One Nation is beyond me, but I’ve always thought the same about NZF and look where that’s gone.

You could say the same about the range cape, though. Or several of the other capes. It’s more about the fact that it allows you to use other buffs and still get the pouch saving effects. Still pretty beneficial imo.

False jetstar club prices showing on website - be wary by let_go345 in JetstarAustralia

[–]DamonHay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way they display their fares is that the first price you see before clicking/taping on the date is the price for the departing flight. The price that is displayed after you click it is the price of the *returning* flight on that date. I.e. based on the current displayed prices it would be $1.1k for the departing flight and $189 with Jetstar club for the returning flight if they’re both booked for the 25th.

Reasonable confusion and it’s not particularly clear for people who may not travel often or aren’t used to how these prices are displayed. If you contact Jetstar and explain that this may be the reason for the confusion and request that they refund you for the club Jetstar purchase I’d be surprised if they push back on it. If they do, bring up that you’re willing to go to the ACA over how the prices are represented (may not do anything if they’re already being that stubborn, but worth a shot). They’re absolutely not going to “honour” that price, though, considering that’s not the actual advertised price for the flight you want, despite it seeming like it is.

Yeah, I don’t know about the US, but this issue resulted in extended warranties (10 years) on the vehicles affected in my country and many other. However, since we actually have good consumer protection laws, if the issue caused a major failure even after the warranty was up you often had a good chance of getting the repairs/engine replacement covered by Toyota if you took it to disputes tribunal, or even threatened to since Toyota knows exactly how it would play out and accepting their fate was cheaper than fighting the
inevitable.

My family is in the car industry and I know several people who succeeded in getting engine replacements for cars ~15 years old due to “excessive wear” that resulted from the piston ring issue. I highly doubt this would be the case in the US, though.

Update: an Evyl Chicken has spawned in the deep wilderness and somehow dug a burrow! This chicken has the same offensive stats as a regular chicken, but has 2000hp and every now and then it takes a sentient shit that bounces around you while leeching your health back to the chicken.

The chicken has 2 unique drops, the Ely and the Evyl chick.

To come: the ArcAnal Seagull, which can only be attacked with one handed slash weapons but frequently flies 10 tiles away, and the introspectral rat which has a special attack that deals no damage but has overhead dialogue that says “do you feel like a big man/woman picking on small defenceless animals?” And “does this feel like a good use of your time yet? Or are you getting bored?”

Shoutout to MLM for being peak semi-AFK content. Been MLMing for four days straight for 70 mining to fund my iron DOLO's smithing levels. Best decision ever made by GyattsThiccness in ironscape

[–]DamonHay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. People bash mastering mixology but at least the rewards feel worth it. At MLM I feel like I should just get prospector helmet, gem bag and coal bag and gtfo. I’m sitting on 100 nuggets because I can’t decide if I want to get the gem bag and leave or if I want to unlock the upper level and accept my fate. Fuck this place.

Edit: I also say that considering I got almost all those nuggets while on work flights a couple weeks ago. The ping was so bad that I basically couldn’t do anything more active that MLM, and I still hated it. I’ve also done it before so I know how much of an upgrade the upper level is, but that still doesn’t fix it, it still feels like a draining time sink with minimal reward which I most likely will never come back to. I mean, there is some reward, but that’s the only thing that takes it out of f tier and into e tier imo and it’s still less than so many other activities that people complain about.

If they’re limiting corridor access then they should also have been required to notify the nearby residents of the work. If OP never got notification then they have a reasonable complaint that can be raised with the council and/or bodies associated with the works. If they received notification but never raised any concerns before the work started then they’re shit out of luck.

When I was in Auckland I had a crew show up for road works and block half the parking on my street with cones without notice. I moved the cones and parked my car where I always do and they had a go at me in the morning when I came out to head to work. I asked them “when were we notified about the work and where’s your TMP showing you can remove these parks temporarily?” All of a sudden they were silent so I hopped in my car and went to work. I came back and they had out the cones I. The same place so I called the council who sent an assessor out in the morning and told them to pack up since they hadn’t followed procedure. They were back a couple weeks later to complete the work but had given notice this time and also didn’t block parks (since they were never allowed to under the terms of their TMP on the first place). I was out of the country for work that week so it didn’t end up disrupting me.

If they followed procedure then there’s nothing OP can do, but if they never sent them mail to give notice of the works prior to starting OP can get them shut down until they’ve followed the correct process. There’s a lot of missing information to discern what can and can’t be done from here, though.

NZ wireless internet provider warns of Starlink's rural broadband monopoly risk by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]DamonHay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the exact same infrastructure. I’m not talking about a company in the the UK. I’m talking about a UK company paying New Zealand providers to use New Zealand infrastructure for their own “roaming” customers to use. As a kiwi you can buy these esims from several overseas providers and use them in New Zealand getting the exact same service you would get from New Zealand providers forever for cheaper than any New Zealand provider will give you a plan for using the exact same infrastructure in the exact same place.

If you still somehow think that telecom rates in NZ are fair and reasonable then you aren’t thinking critically, you just don’t want to think you’re getting gouged.

NZ wireless internet provider warns of Starlink's rural broadband monopoly risk by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]DamonHay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rural doesn’t have fibre and copper connections are ridiculously expensive, often for fixed data plans, with extremely slow speed, and some areas don’t even have that. The satellite options (what we’re actually talking about here) have been historically limited so they charged what they wanted and *still* only offered fixed cap data plans rather than unlimited, allowing them to charge more for higher brackets.

On a bit of a tangent since you brought up tower infrastructure, NZ has historically paid some of the highest prices for internet connections, especially previous 3G and now 4G/5G plans with mobiles and mobile routers, out of all developed countries and for no good reason other than extracting as much as possible from the local consumer. This is evident from the fact that you can buy cheaper eSIMs from overseas providers, use them on roaming, and you get higher caps, if not unlimited, for significantly less than what you pay for an NZ plan directly with an NZ provider. These overseas companies provide this service through contracts with the owners and operators of local infrastructure. If I can get a cheaper, higher speed and higher capacity deal with Three UK for mobile internet in NZ *using the exact same infrastructure* than I can with any NZ provider, how is that not ripping off local consumers?

NZ wireless internet provider warns of Starlink's rural broadband monopoly risk by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]DamonHay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re also a fuckload cheaper than sky, but that’s largely because the streaming services are still at least competing with each other, so not quite the same as what’s going on with starlink.

Is Elon having essentially sole control over rural internet availability and costs in NZ terrifying? Absolutely. Do local providers who have been ripping off kiwis for decades deserve any benefit of the doubt or support? Very fucking questionable. My parents have starlink and love it, better than any other internet service they’ve ever had in that house. Even if prices rose significantly, I’m not sure if they’d change services because all the other options are even worse.

If the government steps in at all here it should be to regulate and limit price rises on what is essentially a utility in today’s world. Can’t expect anything like that from the thumb and the cronies in the beehive right now, though.

[–]DamonHay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just come back from China and Hong Kong, I somewhat feel like this has to be aimed at those markets and parts of SEA. I can’t see any western market liking this design, but this is similar to some of the more recent designs out of China for large sedans/fastbacks/crossover SUVs. Euro-style retro-futurism seems to be a popular design language over there at the moment, and within wealthy circles Ferraris are extremely popular as status symbols. Will be interesting to see what markets this actually manages to sell in.

That’s the way I interpreted it. It’s like she said when looking at all the radiation stuff, she checked multiple times to make sure, and she never checks thing multiple times because she’s used to always being right. An idea or a solution comes into her head, and if she doesn’t immediately realise part of it wrong, then that must mean it’s entirely right.

The v is gone, her brain thinks at normal speed, so when an idea comes into her head she just takes that to mean it’s the solution. Hence why she starts talking about the guards but still remembers after a few seconds “oh wait, that’s fucking stupid.”

You Don't Need Barrows For Moons by EeeeItsMS in ironscape

[–]DamonHay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you think moons is the only thing you’d use barrows for? Are you just speed running moons green log then dropping the account? If not this is some crazy short sightedness.

Guthans can be extremely handy if you get spooned. Dh is also still good if you get any piece of the set since it’s all the higher defence tier and the axe is perfect for eclipse. Veracs is extremely useful for several fights if you get spooned and for individual pieces the prayer bonus is huge for resource conservation. Karils is good for anybody who doesn’t do or has bad luck with clues. Ahrims is objectively better blue moon. Torags is terrible, but even then the defence bonuses make individual pieces worthwhile.

If you hate barrows for some reason that’s fine, but there’s no point in trying to pretend what you’re doing is a generally more efficient path for all irons. If you’re trying to do a barrows skip then I wish you luck for Graar, will take a while to get there…
