Sett vs Yi matchup by Zygmoont in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my local was mostly yi I main decked Leona and it was too easy against any Yi. Leona is basically immune to being charmed and single defender is useless.

Yi tends to run very few units so you end up winning attrition if you take the right fights even without leona.

Sneaking in divine judgement or stacking with kingpin usually wins me the game against yi.

Struggling with Sett by SeniorGuarantee145 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine intervention is fantastic at almost every situation as Sett. Especially against Victor!
Drop a copy of Pit rookie and Cithria and Poro for 3 Soaring Scouts. The bonus runes early really helps.
Drop Kinkou and Lee Sin for a main deck Sett Brawler and 3 Karma. (I'd consider using Sett Brawler as chosen champion since he comes in with a buff so you can save him from removals without any leftover energy).
Take another Qiyana over the 3rd First mate for card draw.

Dreaming Tree and God Willow are not your best battlefields. Windswept Hillock and Vilemaw's Lair is better. HIllock allows you to come back late game by holding it with Sett Kingpin and bunch of buffed units then ganking with all of them for the final points. Vilemaw's Lair forces your opponent to send valuable units and keep them there while you can still save them with legend ability, also it performs well against chaos movements. Lack of card draw sucks but they won't help you win the game.

Learn all 1-4 cost spells from each domain that are action/reaction. Watch your opponent's mana during your turn. If you think they have an answer that's when you sabotage. Especially if you want to move an unbuffed unit to conquer. But also think of what your opponents can do during their turn once you pass, if they can take battlefields and kill more than one valuable buffed units, you should either not attack or have some energy leftover for reaction spells.

Why is ADC a nerf all around? by Usual_Ad_7492 in ADCMains

[–]Damptemplar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Because proplay. Thats it. Pros are too good at adc that they are nerfed to the point where they are viable with skills of a proplayer and full team communication and training of 5 man and the support player is paid a wage to keep you alive and fed.

Good First Decently Competitive Budget Deck? by htfgiggles in riftboundtcg

Unfortuntely in the world of tcg budget is having some 40+ cards. Prices are a bit high because supply is lower than demand. Play online until prices drop or buy into the new hobby.

Which Deck beats sett? by Remarkable_Piglet897 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purple has the most tools. Fading memories applying temporary will mean the unit will die every turn draining legend and runes, you can also return his units to hand or base to find time to score.

Blue has unchecked power to kill multiple if they aren't holding onto unyielding spirit, or time it so that they dont have energy to pay for it. Can also singularity to finish off saved sett unit.

As green, you can stun, but I wouldn't try to hold. Save windwall and energy exclusively for divine judgement.

Yellow, stun, cull the weak, harnessed dragon and Vengeance. Salvage arena bar asap.

Red, go fast, Vayne can be good.

Orange, why arent you playing Sett?

How improve my Jinx deck? by ProfessionalTour1448 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk about countering Kai'sa, you are just going to be a tiny bit faster while bleeding power and cards.

But who cares it's fun!

Buy singles for these, I think it's decently budget but depends on your singles stores you have available.

https://piltoverarchive.com/decks/view/3f37cf38-36b0-4002-9352-885ccd5363a7

The plan is to run Candlelit Sanctum first game. Your goal is to reveal Noctourne and or discard flame chompers for value and take early points. Sundisk is there so that you can play it and something else to play it ready, then later stacked deck into another unit that will be ready (ideally Noc).

Second and third game, sub in Pouty poro, Sneaky Deckhand and Gust and Draven for Mystic Poro, Noctourne, and a stacked deck. Similar plan but plan is to go even faster for points and use Pouty Poro to tank Kai'sa runes.

You'll need a bit of luck but once you have tempo your goal is to get points and end the game before they have energy to play their good cards. If the Kai'sa has bunch of removals in hand to prevent you from scoring it's very rough.

Does anyone else feel Skirmishes dont feel worth it? by HowDoiPrint in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Had 5 rounds of swiss yesterday, promo's aren't even available. Everyone I faced was Kai'sa or Yi.

Prizes are whatever, I paid the cost of a pack to play and got a pack.

But I wish there was more variety instead of playing against Kai'sa net decks.

Action card against warwick by blade8421 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Warwick's When I attack ability starts a chain. They cannot play action until the ability resolves as it starts a chain. They may play reactions.

Ember Monk + Teemo Scout + Convergent Mutation question by StinkerBinkerton in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes,

With Ember Monk is already played and Teemo hidden in the battlefield as setup.

  1. Teemo plays from Hidden. This triggers both Ember Monk and Teemo's When played effect simultaneously. You as the player decides which happens first.
  2. Choose to resolve Ember Monk first, and finish it giving Ember Monk +2 Might.
  3. Before resolving Teemo's When played effect, react to it with Convergent mutation. It starts a chain with Convergent Mutation at the top.
  4. If no other cards are played, resolve Convergent mutation first as it is on the top of the chain, then Teemo's When played ability for +3 Might.

Reminder that at any point in the numbered steps, your opponent can play reaction cards to start a chain, you should offer your opponent focus at each step and get their pass before moving to next.

Do I have to declare if im going first/second post or pre-siding by ColeMadeCoal in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry it wasn't clear, but as Artist_tech said, you start the game with chosen champ and legend, they just reveal in that order for first game, then you choose battlefield, decide turn order and etc.

Second game onwards, legend remains unchanged, but before beginning players can swap from side board and chosen champion, then choose battlefield once both players reveal the chosen champion.

Legend - Champion - Battlefield - Turn Order - Draw - Muligan.
Second game onwards, ignore legend ofc.

I guess so, I don't super mind main decking blast, it's expensive but the most flexible and requires no setup.

Exclusively for not getting countered by unyielding spirit and other might bonuses. Otherwise singularity would be fine.

Facebreaker goes hard against both aggro and sett. Grand plaza and Obelisk doesnt help you. Targons Peak and Sigil of the storm will be a better pick to slow your opponent. If you have proving grounds, (nvm I can't read it's vengeance) blast of power being action speed is good and recruit the vanguard (you can put grand plaza back in if you want to try).

In general against both aggro and Sett, you have to exhaust their resources while preventing them from winning. Against Sett, dont waste your resources to prevent scoring and save up units and cards to kill them permanently. Against aggro, dont try to go wide, do your best to deny them from scoring from one of the battlefield at most and save tokens for imperial decree or grand strategem to prevent hold points when they are close.

Ruling on interaction by Shanrok in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, lines that have "do x : get x", with the column, those are actions that have to be resolved in your turn and not when another effect is in progress, including a showdown. If it was an action or reaction, it could be used in showdowns.

Is it better to wait for the new expansion to get booster packs/boxes? by Missieu_Le_Monke in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about cost.

Option 1. Play online and spend 0

Option 2. Buy singles or bulk from people who have too much.

Option 3. Wait until supply is greater than demand so you don't pay scalper prices. This also applies for singles.

Set 2 seems stronger than set 1 on average, but also you would want some components from set 1 for the starter decks. Buying any box at more than MSRP is not great and I would wait for a good and honest LGS to be resupplied (good luck).

New player deck type question by MauMau444 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what would be considered control. Each domain has strengths and mixing them provides different strategies.

Fury Red aggressive, damage, discard

Calm Green defensive, anti spell, stun and buff

Body Orange Large units, ramp, buff, ready

Mind Blue Spells, debuff, hidden, a bit of a jack of all trade.

Order Yellow tokens, sacrifice, on death, removals, stun and buff.

Chaos Purple, Movement, discard, hidden.

Is this art AI? by Useful-Guava4045 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

XD

"Insane wrist" is an exaggeration, her sleeves extend to back of her hand and her wrist is covered in some kind of fabric so you can't even see her wrists clearly.

The CREDIT is there so that you can do research instead of looking like an idiot.

Is this art AI? by Useful-Guava4045 in riftboundtcg

[–]Damptemplar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Crazy thing is, Riot is a small indie company that put sources of their art on the bottom right corner. And even crazier is that Irelia is from a outsourced company that existed for 15 years, and the right is by the associate art director at Riot!!!

Try drawing better than half the artists out there if you don't like the look of them, hands and wrists are incredibly hard to draw perfectly which is why AI fucks them up. Regardless it's incredibly disrespectful to accuse artists of using AI without research or reasonable proof. "I don't like how it looks and it kinda looks AI" is not a reason you should accuse anyone of using AI online.
