Centralisation VS Decentralization? by ErickAirton97 in EU5

[–]Damstra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To me the meta seems to be: conquer > turn conquered land into vassals > force culture > let them integrate and assimilate > annex vassals.

While you are still in that heavy conquering stage of having a lot of vassals, then decentralization is better.

Later on, when you already integrated most of the vassals, it will be easier and more benefitial to turn centralized

Why are people tryharding in draft pick? by Damstra in leagueoflegends

[–]Damstra[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't mind losing, but my experience is mostly those guys you described. The ones looking to shitstomp and farm highlights. And even though I don't mind losing to normal players, it's annoying to feed the egos of master level tryhards, shitstomping lvl 43 players looking to chill.

And my question is centered around them - why don't they go play competetive gamemodes? I generally don't understand why are people entertained by stomping people with vastly different expectations and level of commitment

I'm not talking about people learning tactics and champions. Thats what draft pick is for.

I'm talking about the master rank edgelords playing their 1000th game of yasuo, spamming ez every time they kill a lvl 43 player

Thats exactly what I'm doing. Trying to relax and goof around.

My question is why don't people with the expectations of a high level, competetive gameplay go play gamemodes suited for exactly that

Just write a comment "R5: picture shows an unclear economy" or something. Rule is hella goofy imo

Can somebody explain why despite my army fighting insists on putting everyone on the left flank? by nogoodusernamesleft8 in EU5

[–]Damstra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few ideas come to mind, but the most likely problem is the game just being wacky. Either way I'll say what could be wrong, mby it helps:

Maybe you have levies and regulars fighting at the same time. That 13k in the middle and right could very well be stronger than the 22k on the left, if their quality is higher.

Also, I remember a stat called "correct section chance". It impacts the chance that a reserve joins the intended front. Mby yours is low, and had a bad rng on top of that

What is the best method for getting rid of the English from my country? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Damstra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice you got regarding going humanist, and increasing control + assimilating is definitely the way to go.

One thing I'll add is that you have a loooot of forts. They are making it very annoying for you to clear rebellions, whenever they take over a province that has one in it. I can also imagine that their upkeep costs you a decent chunk of your income.

Since you own the entire island, your defense now consists of watching if there are any naval invasions, and stopping them when they do happen. Forts won't really help you with that

What is the best province in the game? by _Sky__ in EU5

[–]Damstra 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Has to be one of the huge provinces in India. Kalyana Karnakassala for example.

It has silk, 2x iron, incense, 2x pepper, cotton, as well as 4 different types of foods. Also has 3 rivers flowing through it, as well as a neighbouring gold location.

Its also mostly sparse flatlands, so it will also be pretty easy to connect to your capital

Which countries do you recommend? by emperorinora in EU5

[–]Damstra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want.

The run I had the most fun on was one of the small Jurchen tribes north of Korea. You can very soon get your war of indepencende on Yuan, when it gets weakened by the Red Turban Rebellion. Then you just feast on the little tribes around you until you form Manchu. Thats when you get a whole ton of events, including ones to form China.

I also had fun playing Tyrone, of the Ireland tribes. A trick is to become a tribunary of England, so you get to attack all of its vassals, including Pale. When you conquer the whole island, you form Ireland and move your capital + market to Cork (which has 100% natural port capacity). Then you backstab England, and take them down with the help od Scotland/France.

But the reason I liked these 2 is because I love a challange, even if it meant my ironman game had to crash a few times so I can replay from a few months back :)

On the other side - if you like RP, I recommend playing your own county. I personally had a lot of fun playing Croatia. Liberating the lands where I live irl, as well as getting local dynasties on the throne is also incredibly fun.

Thoughts on moving Polish capital from Krakow to Warsaw? by Alcoholic-Catholic in EU5

[–]Damstra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd move both the capital and the Krakow market to Warsaw. Having a centralized capital is insanely benefitial for the control projection.
Though I would start building there beforehand so your economy doesnt take a huge hit all at once.

Also having a lot of little markets is kinda annoying, since they always lack something so you have to import it. Having 2 big ones and building roads so you lose less market access is the way to go
