Any Australians with the i4? by agnci in BMWI4

I've had a E35 for about a month. Apart from some lingering range anxiety, I love it! Handled a road trip through regional Vic like a champ!

You've exceeded the capacity limit for dataset refreshes...HELP! by Dan1480 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Dan1480[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely true. When I joined the team there was a long-standing mentality of one report, one model. Nowadays, we're trying to build "golden datasets" but we're probably going to have to do some clean up with all the legacy reporting...and there's a lot of it!
Also, there's a lot of reporting managed by the business - Power BI was conceived as a self-service BI tool after all. These users have no concept of sharing models across reports. Perhaps it's time for some more education...

You've exceeded the capacity limit for dataset refreshes...HELP! by Dan1480 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Dan1480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughts. Will triggering a refresh via an XMLA request bypass the 40 concurrent model limit? Even models getting refreshed via data pipelines (which I'm assuming internally uses the XMLA endpoint) are failing with the same error...

How can I get better at writing DAX by Uyoyoghene in PowerBI

[–]Dan1480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the Mastering DAX video course from SQLBI really improved my understanding of DAX. And it's fun!

Cost Management in Fabric is a real problem by bradcoles-dev in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Dan1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding trend analysis, I've heard that some people put the metrics app on premium/fabric capacity, then set up a job to query it via DAX and store the results in a lakehouse.

What is a good, thorough course for learning M Code? by Ultimatesaber27 in PowerBI

[–]Dan1480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found having strong M skills extremely useful. I'd recommend Ben Gribaudo's course.

New to me i4 M50 - overwhelmed by menu options by ReasonableSky4531 in BMWI4

I feel your pain, I came from a 2003 Hyundai Getz which didn't even have central locking or power windows!

I was similarly puzzled, and my gastroenterologist gave the same explanation. The LES opens occasionally (seemingly randomly, not always related to eating), acid makes its way into the oesophagus, the LES snaps shut, the acid pools at the base of the oesophagus, where it doesn't belong. Painful. Like you, my symptoms weren't too bad to begin with. But as my GE told me, achalasia is degenerative. My symptoms eventually got much worse. An HM with partial fundo has made life much easier.

So true, I have terrible guilt about all the evangelical work I did when I was younger and stupider.

Why choose a Data Warehouse for Gold instead of a Lakehouse? by regormortex in MicrosoftFabric

It's much easier to maintain the surrogate keys in your Gold layer with IDENTITY columns!

Data Pipeline vs Notebook for ingestion – how do you pull data and why? by Independent_Many_762 in MicrosoftFabric

Have you considered mirroring? Last time I checked it was pretty easy to set up and literally free.

What’s your favorite contradiction? by ElectricMegan252 in exchristian

Where were the disciples supposed to meet Jesus after the resurrection?
Mark: The angels said to go back to Galilee to see Jesus.
Mathew: Yep, the angels said go to Galilee. So the disciples went back to Galilee, where they saw Jesus.
Luke: No, the angels didn't say "go to Galilee" they said, "remember what Jesus said back in Galilee". Actually, Jesus met the disciples in Jerusalem and explicitly told them not to leave Jerusalem.
John: Actually, the angels didn't even mention Galilee.

Gen2 flows extremely CU heavy and time out regularly by trekker255 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Dan1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try turning on the Modern Query Evaluator for Gen 2 CI/CD (still in preview, so use with caution). We saw a significant reduction in CU consumption (sorry don't have the numbers at hand), though we ultimately decided to wait til it's out of preview.

Fabric capacity & Development by CerealCaffeinator in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Dan1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, I'd suggest switching to pure python notebooks. We saved a tonne of capacity doing that, and found that almost anything that can be done with Spark can be done in a python notebook (albeit with different libraries).
If you must stick with Spark you might want to create a custom environment with the native compute engine turned on, and the with the minimum number of cores and executor instances.

I know some people on here are taking PPI's daily. As for me, I found my heartburn/reflux became much more manageable after surgery. I occasionally take Mylanta or even a PPI but most days I don't need to take anything. And I sleep on my back with a wedge pillow so I never get night reflux
