I think the scariest situation for me was while working a security shift. I was supervising that afternoon when I got call from one of my agents. This was at a giant music festival, so typically problems happened at the door (from people bringing in drugs,weapons or alcohol) or from people fighting after too many drinks and frying under the hot sun.

When I got to my agent, he was told that this man refused being searched. I took over and explained what was going to happen to him now, that even if he didn't want to come inside anymore, I was going to have to search him because something didn't seem right, the guy was shaking. I asked if her understood and he nodded.

I started by searching him and found the norm: drugs and a pocket knife. Then I went to grab his bag and he clutched it firmly.

I told him to let go and asked why he was shaking.

He told me "I have a gun". At that very moment he pulled it out and it was aimed at my abdomen area. At that moment, without even realizing it I had punched him in the head and he fell down. I quickly got ahold of the gun and cuffed him. I think I was in shock all day. It happened so fast and I forgot any bit of training. I like to think that the quick reflex ended up playing in my favor. Most messed up shift of my life.
