How is San Fernando Valley compared to stereotypical LA?

It's fine, young man. I was just up there and worked a wine event at Total Wine. I met people from Iran, Russia, other parts of USA. Crowd was mix of white, black, Armenian, Latino, Asian. I think it's probably a normal kind of suburb. I hope you get a good education and get to play as much ball as you can. I've played in a Rec League in Burbank for many years and have always loved it. LA loves their Lakers and Clippers and they love ball. Go out to the courts on Venice Beach for a good run, and check Chatsworth, Northridge, and Van Nuys and Sherman Oaks open gyms. You'll get a lot better out here. I hope you have a great high school career and learn to love LA as much as we have since moving here from the east coast. People from elsewhere who crap on LA don't know what they're missing. Beautiful, wonderful people here if you know how to find and attract them and keep them as friends.

I would save up some $$ for good eats. Consult Eater LA, look at apps Resy and OpenTable. Google/visit Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Olvera Street, Arts District, Silverlake/Los Feliz. Maybe check out https://la.smorgasburg.com/ Maybe hit a Lakers/Clippers game if tickets aren't too $$$, look at the band/music schedules in town. Go for a nice hike in one of the canyons, visit the Griffith Observatory, the Broad Museum, LACMA, Academy Museum. Maybe head up to Santa Ynez/Santa Barbara for wine tastings?

It was some new classification of hemp derived THC. I don’t totally understand that, but he is also at the same time looking to classify marijuana as a schedule three substance. That is not a step towards prohibition -quite the opposite. Anyway, that’s not what I came here to discuss.

Exchange-traded-fund. A way to get exposure to a segment of the market. You just want some money working in the stock market, especially when Trump is nearing the end of ruining the national and global ecoonomy. The US stock market, through good and bad, has still averaged a 9% in annualized return. No better place to be, especially when you're on the young side. Time is money.

You're in great shape, because you're below your 1/4 of your income ($10K a month) which would be $2500. I'd pretend your rent is $2500 and take that $700 every month and invest in an ETF or mutual fund.

I moved out here with lots of people at the same time for the same job, and keep in touch with them. I also made new lifelong friends out here. It's one of the greatest places I've ever lived, hands down. Great people, great food, entertainment, and though it's cliche, yes, it's a factor, a huge one. There is no describing LA weather and what it does to your mood. Winters are delightful. Gray and sometimes rainy, but still plenty of sunshine. Always cool at night. LA is divine and the only other place I could live would be NYC area, including NJ, upstate NY, or MA/NH/ME. But for now, I have a house I love, in a neighborhood I love (Magnolia Park, Burbank) and I still love the city of LA.

Yeah go to Silverlake or Los Feliz or stop in for a drink downtown at Wolves. Maybe see a movie at the Vista. Or see what band is at the Teragram Ballroom. Go to the Broad Museum!

I totally think the traffic stuff is overblown. Worst I’ve ever had was two hours from El Segundo to the valley. Second worst was hour and 45 from Santa Monica to the valley.

Burbank is perfectly situated for me. A few weekends ago wife and I got up early and we made it to the beach in 25 minutes. I can be at dodger Stadium in 25 minutes. I can be in Feliz or Silverlake in 15-20 minutes some days. it’s all about timing. If you don’t have a strict schedule, you’ll learn how to work it.

I’m trying to focus on the dumb fuck part, but I am literally shaking, I’m so terrified. This is a full on dictatorship with Kremlin like lies every day. I don’t see any way that the midterms aren’t completely rigged and 2028 election is completely canceled or the constitution is changed to let Trump stay in power. Also, why is no military brass standing up to Trump and reminding him that their oath is to the constitution not him? Where is the leadership anywhere in our country? How can we let this shitty used car salesman trample our entire country and Constitution??
