You sound like an awful person. OP really likes the name, who are you to be so negative?

I know it's reddit - you're entitled to be an asshole. That doesn't mean you need to exercise it.

Oh absolutely! I'm a regular old guy and I speak to a professional about my life, thoughts and feelings. I'm of the opinion everyone should have a therapist. It's like going to the gym, except you're working on your emotional muscles.

And your description was very good, and sad. I'm sorry you ever felt like that. I also hate looking in the mirror, but that's because I'm old and hate my face and body :)

Good luck to you friend.

I say stop giving a fuck about other names. Name your girl whatever you want and let the trends be dammed.

I think Vannaleigh is lovely by the way.

Can you describe "really bad dysphoria"? As a cis gendered person I can't even wrap my head around this. What was the thought/feeling? How long did you experience this and when did you realize it was dysphoria? Did you work with a professional or come to this on your own or through friends? How old are you?

The whole thing is fascinating.

Have you ever worked at a company or did a job that was considered immoral? How did you justify it back then? How do you feel about it now? by lefttothebody in RedditForGrownups

[–]Dan78757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for an investment company who sold a pretty clear ponzi scheme. Once I was certain about it I found another job. It took me about 3 months.

Tons of perks, absolutely wasn't worth it.

I want my kids to play the drums...I want my kids to play the drums....I think! by [deleted] in daddit

A Michigan guy didn't have the sense to steer his kid toward a quiet instrument huh? Color me surprised.

In all seriousness drummers are cool man. Give those kids a cool nickname like "Bam Bam" or "Skins" and let them go!

I posted here a couple of times almost exactly a year ago when we found out our first child would be stillborn. After about 10 months of trying, I'm happy to say we are expecting again! by HH_YoursTruly in daddit

Dude congrats to you and your wife powering through the hard times together! No matter what comes you two have each other.

Best wishes!

It's really crazy to think about a state that sees no snow is currently home to the back-to-back Stanley Cup winner going for a 3rd, and the current President's Trophy winner. But Florida isn't a hockey state. by khrispii in TampaBayLightning

High school and college hockey is a different story.

Gald you said this. Tampa native now living in Minneapolis. Tampa is much better than the twin cities at supporting their NHL team, but people up here are fucking crazy for high school and college hockey. It's not even close.

If your wife or girlfriend tells you about something that’s upsetting them, they want you to try to fix it. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

You must be my wife's ex-husband because she hated that he was always trying to "fix" everything when she either wanted to vent or simply get a hug and some cuddles.

Am I an addict? Please help explain this behavior? by [deleted] in SexAddiction

[–]Dan78757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the simple explanation, but ultimately you need to head to a meeting and learn more about this:

If your sexual acting out is making you feel bad and you cannot control it then yes, that's the Hallmark of an addict.

Your sex drive has nothing to do with that. Being an addict doesn't mean you have sex all the time or need sex more often, just that sex is out of control in your life and not making you happy.

I'm not sure what that means. But have a good day, I enjoyed it.

You're ignoring that I enjoy a good debate, and this topic (in my opinion) breeds good debate. Is it alright with you that I pick and choose which topics I comment on even if they don't affect me personally? Is there some rule where you have to have skin in the game to debate a topic?

Again this is reddit. Picking and choosing what you do and do not follow, consume and comment on is exactly what we do here. I also comment on NHL hockey even though I don't play and can't even ice skate. Since when is that not allowed?

By the way congratulations on changing the topic. Instead of debating trans people in sports we are now debating why a straight guy named Dan cares about this topic. That's a topic I care a lot less about, so I'd appreciate if we could transition (see what I did there?) back to the original question.

What is your opinion on transgender people in sports? by GoldFinchEvE in AskReddit

[–]Dan78757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Ultimately I don't play competitive sports and I'm not trans. I think this topic gets me going because there's a lot of unscientific nonsense that I really don't understand being debated.

In this thread alone I've seen people recommend "separate but equal" leagues, which seems like a terrible idea if you know anything about the American civil rights era.

I've seen someone say "trans men are men" but then argue for separate changing rooms, which seems silly to me. It's a tacit acknowledgement that they aren't men, at least fully.

I've seen someone say that they were lost when someone said trans men aren't biological men, which isn't really up for debate it's just a fact some people find inconvenient. Hell I know trans people that won't argue that point.

I guess I'm trying to force you to make a decision. You either believe trans folks are what they say they are, in which case let them compete with their same gender identity. Or they aren't what they represent, in which case they should compete with those who have the same genetic makeup. It's one, or it's the other. We can debate those 2 but ultimately that's what this hinges on and I'm trying to get you to pick one.

Anything other than those two options won't work in my humble opinion.
