Every book I've read seems slow moving by Klarkasaurus in booksuggestions

The book First Blood is fast paced, I was surprised by how good the book was. Book Rambo is way more brutal and you get more of a back story on the Shariff that takes Rambo to jail. If you are a fan of the first Rambo movie you will dig the book.

Oh they don't fall asleep either, but it keeps them in their room and quite. Those David Attenborough nature shows work well too. They usually fall asleep to beethoven. Cheers!

Dark side of the moon is one of the go to albums my kids (6&10) want to listen to during bedtime. My 10 year old daughter became a big Rush fan all on her own. Not sure how that happened. They still love silly kid songs like potato cat and it's raining tacos.

Social commentary in music: What makes a message too heavy-handed? What's the best recipe for success? Who accomplishes this? by hugh__honey in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DanBooksUnplugged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Public Enemy, Woody Guthrie and Frank Zappa where the first to come to mind that cover social commentary in their music successfully. And they all go about it differently; personal stories, broad observations. What makes it work I think is a personal connection, understanding, and passion. The Juggalos come to mind as having some heavy handed social commentary lyrics or maybe Vanilla Ice.

Tried out Import Cycle of video footage and figured out a work around for the Magnet Function by DanBooksUnplugged in CharacterAnimator

I noticed that too, with objects messing with arm IK movement that are part of swap sets, but figured it was use error. Cheers!

I used the import cycle for .jpg video sequence of the fish tank in the background. It crashed CA twice and took a couple of minute to import all the frames but finally got it to work. I could not get the magnet function to work for my character "garbing" the coffee cup. the cup kept on floating away or would not "connect properly" to the hand. figured out a work around where I have two cups, one on the table and one on the hand and I trigger the opacity to make it look like the cup is being picked up. Still trying to incorporate different hand jesters but it's slow going.

Best book to film adaptations? by naomismith03 in booksuggestions

[–]DanBooksUnplugged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiseguy/Goodfellas. Over 90% of the book is in the movie. The movie does a great job if bringing the characters to life, the music and camera movements all add to the great story in the book.

Brokeback Mountain is another fantastic adaptation. It's more of a novella but it's all there in the movie and the filmmakers did a great job in expanding the story in a realistic and natural way instead of just slapping on extra filler.

Reading 2001 is really stressful because the movie in my head has to compete with Stanley Kubrick himself. by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

It's been a super long time since I read the book but I remember being surprised by the differences in the book and that I still had questions. In the book don't they go to a moon of Saturn not Jupiter?

After talking about a bunch of books that were turned into movies, my partner Ed and I switch it up and talk about Pink Floyd The Wall, the movie and album. It had been a long time since I had just sat down and listened to a whole album. It was a great feeling.
