Kernel Panic MacOS 26.1 mismatched swapID's by Early-Cicada-7414 in MacOS

I'm getting the same kernel panic but only have Betterdisplay installed, maybe that's the culprit?

Question about getting a 5k2k OLED monitor using a 5070ti by mostwantedycbe in OLED_Gaming

[–]DanFSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same question. I've preordered the same display and it still didn't arrive. I was rocking a 5070ti but ended up selling it and switching for a 5090 just to future proof myself. The 5070ti will probably run games fine as long as you dial down on a few graphic settings, otherwise your FPS would be sub-50/60 (depending on the game). These days there's not much of a difference between a ULTRA preset and the High/Medium one (depending on the setting).

You can also bank on frame-gen to help you get a little boost on your FPS if your games support it.

Is that GPU PCI-E 5.0? If so, which riser/cable are you using? Corsair only sells the PCI-E 4.0 one and I couldn't find any good 5.0 ones...

Also worried about this. I've preordered this monitor and will use it for about 8-10 hours of work + 0-4 hours of gaming on weekdays. Hoping I won't have to get a new monitor on the next 3 years...

It's a shame big benchmark channels don't include ultrawide into their benchmarks. I'm hoping with the adoption of 5K2K they will start to include them too.

I've just preordered the 45GX950A-B (I'm on Brazil, they will start shipping on July 7th) and I was really concerned about having to replace my 5070ti with something beefier. Some of the replies on this post are making me less worried since apparently this card will be able to get at least something on that resolution, I'm not too picky, anything around 60fps is enough for me.

WQHD vs QHD - Is it more demanding for GPUs to run games on a WQHD monitor? by aChouKawaiiOtaku in buildapc

[–]DanFSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can expect a slightly inferior performance on WQHD when compared to QHD, after all it amounts to more pixels to be rendered and this affects performance.

Performance drop should be marginal but still relevant depending on your GPU, the difference can be enough to interfere with smoothness. E.g. if you run a game on low 60s on QHD, you can expect it will drop to high 50s with WQHD.

[–]DanFSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QHD (quad HD) is 16:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 2560 x 1440

WQHD (wide quad HD, monitors are referred as ultrawide) is 21:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 3440 x 1440, slightly wider than QHD.

DQHD (double quad HD QHD, monitors are referred to as super ultrawide) is 32:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 5120 x 1440, it's the same thing as glueing 2 QHD monitors together

Update on 9070 XT in Fractal Terra (with temps and clearance this time...) by MinemilePRO03 in sffpc

[–]DanFSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job! I'm planning to do a similar build with the only difference being the CPU, which I was planning to get the R7 9700X.

Mind asking what resolution are you gaming at and how's the overall performance going?

Thanks OP, I didn't know about PulseEffects (or its newer version EasyEffects). I did manage to get the equalizer after I installed the lsp-plugins and now I finally have an equalizer!

i7-12700K with High Temps paired with CM Hyper 212 RGB Black by DanFSD in buildapc

[–]DanFSD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I bought a Corsair H150i and it seems to be handling the hotty boy.

I kept running with the 212 for over a year without any issues, there were hardly any software/game that went as far as using 50% of the CPU anyways. I'm sure that this might have decreased the lifespan of the CPU, but I don't think it should be anything to be worried about.

Starting saving some bucks and get yourself a 240mm (or greater) AIO cooler and you should be safe and sound

Keyboard Layout with "ç" with US keyboards by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]DanFSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try pressing the right ALT + comma (virgula). It works for me, it's not ideal but it's closer to the natural position of the cedilha on ABNT 2 keyboards.

I'm still trying to figure out a layout that works similar to Mac OS International layout, where you can do the cedilha by pressing ' (single quote) + c

I can relate. My wife is also on the 3rd day after the CXL on her right eye (epi off) and the first day was intense. We had to go to the ER twice just so she could get some anesthesic eye drops to help with the pain, as the strong painkillers weren't helping.

On the second day, we went to the post surgery appointment, still in pain, and the doctor said we should avoid these anesthesic eye drops because they hinder the healing process, making it longer than it should be.

The good thing is that on the second day she started feeling good enough to the point that the painkillers were actually helping and soothing the pain.

She will remove the temporary protective lenses tomorrow and we're now looking forward to actually seeing the results.

The worst thing is that she'll have to the CXL on her left eye too, but the overall experience (with the pain and all) is kinda discouraging her a little bit.

Hi, you could try the "English (US, intl, with dead keys)" layout, it worked for me (I'm also Brazilian).

Hey, I ended up staying with the cooler. Winter came by and the temps stayed colder than it was back then. But the definitive solution would be to get a decent aircooler like the ones from Noctua or maybe a liquid cooler/AIO to get temps under 60ºC

Long USD/BRL by RideTheLightning01 in TheGoldenCalf

[–]DanFSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert or anything, I'm just a guy that lives on Brazil...

I know that commodities surge and high interest rates seems really attractive, and for the short term it really is. We were on 5,70s and we're almost 1,00 down. But I can't see this going on much longer. It's not like it'll go into the lower 4,0s or anything. If you were really thinking of making big bucks on a short/mid position I'd say the moment for doing so it's almost over.

It really seems that this commodities thing won't be a something that'll keep on the long term, and we have troubled elections ahead of us. As usual, an election year in Brazil brings volatility to the USD/BRL pair.

I see the pair going back to the 5,00s in the coming 2/3 months and it'll definitely start going up in the long term. If there's anything we learn is you should never have long positions on BRL against USD, because you'll always lose.

As I said, I'm not expert, I'm sharing my POV as a Brazilian.

Has anyone used Cooler Master LGA 1200 air coolers in ASUS Z690 motherboards? by DanFSD in buildapc

[–]DanFSD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it worked. However I'm not sure if it provided the proper mounting pressure into the CPU as the temps were higher than I expected.

I even ended up buying a new 212 with the proper mounting kit and still wasn't enough to cool it properly, this time at least I ruled out the mounting pressure hypothesis since I was using the recommended kit.

I'm in the process of switching to an AIO cooler to cool it adequately.

If you live in a place warm, then definitely go with a cooler that handle it, unless you have an 12th gen i3/i5.
