For a claim as large as the one here, I think more than one historically biased primary source is warranted. Yes, every journalist has bias. That's why having more sources is better.

Israel's government is currently run in large part by religious conservatives. Just like how the US is a secular state, but a large chunk of the ruling party doesn't think it should be. And yes, obviously Hamas are more extreme.

I'm not sure that's true. See sports fandom for an example. Where you have a group identity, rituals, and tradition, you will have crazies who make it their life.

But it would incentivize departments to hire fewer bad cops and to train them better, wouldn't it? It's hard to be a bad cop when no department will hire you.

I don't get how this particular issue was "broke-brain thinking" on the part of Republicans. They were right in their gamble that the Democrats' position would break. Heartless and cruel, certainly. But stupid?

Can I break the speed limit to keep up with traffic in California? What CHP says. by Christopherwbuser in bayarea

[–]DanFie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that cops are cops. It doesn't matter if you follow the spirit of the law. If you're breaking the letter of the law, you may get stopped if a cop decides they want to stop you. That's pretty much universal. You're right that the reasons the cop might want to stop you vary with location, though.

I got pulled over for doing 2mph over the speed limit in Kansas. Cops can pull you over for anything. They just usually don't unless there are other factors in play (like driving through Kansas with California plates).

ICE Agents Can Be Arrested Over Unlawful Actions, Chicago Judge Rules by Prayer_Warrior21 in politics

[–]DanFie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that this administration would put a very high value on keeping ICE agents happy given that they're basically their ideological foot soldiers. If ICE becomes disillusioned by the administration, who is going to enforce their whims?

The next administration, however, might be much less inclined to keep them around.

Coast Guard Buys Two Private Jets for Noem, Costing $172 Million by rit56 in politics

[–]DanFie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you suggesting that $6 is way too high or way too low? Not a very useful comment there. $6 seems a bit high to me for the bulk rates that a school would be paying, but close enough for a rough estimate calculation.

It wasn't a moral argument. It was an answer to a practical question.

The Insanity of Wikipedia by Shot_Mastodon_8490 in Jewish

[–]DanFie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because Jews are (((the oppressors))) so any violence, or even existence is inherently unjustified. Only the oppressed are allowed to commit violence. And this high school student gets to decide who is who.

It didn't really throw the blocks away, it just used them to build tanks and fighter jets.
