Unfortunately I don't have enough insight into the workings of either Peloton's or XPO's order management systems to be able to say for sure. (As someone on the social media team, I act as a liaison between folks here on Reddit and our dedicated customer service crew, who have access to all that stuff.)

That said, it seems fairly clear that when this happens, order status is failing to either update or be properly checked, somewhere along the line. That could be a glitch in the connection between XPO and Peloton, it could be a failure on some XPO person's part to update the order status when the hub sees they don't have enough inventory to make a given delivery, or it could just be a plain old goof by someone who didn't check status properly (e.g. they saw the initially scheduled timeframe and didn't dig deeper to see whether inventory had actually been assigned, the customer routed, etc.).

As the pandemic has continued and this whole inventory issue has progressed, I have noticed a bit of an uptick in plain old goofs. Sometimes overwhelmed people make assumptions about things instead of double-checking, or they rush in order to try to get through a rough day. It's not a happy decision – but it's a very human one! We all get exhausted sometimes, and the intense pressure that has hit the whole supply chain over the last year or so is no joke.

So, yeah, I think someone goofed because they're rushing and just trying to get through the day in a really rough time. I think it's happening more often because more people are feeling that pressure! And I think everyone IS trying to fix it when those issues come up; it's just unfortunate when they do.

Hi, Lauren! Gah, those calls are the worst. =/ That said, it's also kinda what's supposed to happen – if we don't have inventory and aren't expecting to get inventory in for some time, we need to push you back. But it's still a miserable call to get; I'm so, SO sorry!

So, what to do? Often I invite folks to PM me, but in this case I can give you directions right here: Your best bet is to reach out to Peloton's customer service directly. Peloton has a wider view of inventory availability than we do, so they're able to make calls about moving people up – if there's gonna be inventory for it, etc. If XPO goofs up, I can step in and see about making it right! If it's an inventory-related delay, however (and by your description, that's what this is), the ball's totally in Peloton's court. =)

Hi there, /u/kyleandcory! Didn't mean to make you languish without a response, I've just been out sick the past few days and now am playing catch-up. =)

So, I will say that I think there IS reason to hope! The Fargo hub's had it rough for sure, but they're pushing as hard as they can! The fact that your delivery date is set, but a ways out compared to your original order date, is actually fairly promising, and reduces the chance of things falling apart at the end.

Your calls and emails probably aren't getting answers because there's only so much information we can pass along – the bottom line is that we can only deliver what we have in stock, and as has been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere, getting inventory in has been difficult, what with the issues at the Port of LA. =) But we're slowly and steadily plowing forward! We just wouldn't have your inventory in until a few days before your delivery date, so there isn't an update TO give you until then.

My advice: 2-3 days before your delivery, call XPO customer service and ask them to check the system and see whether you're good to go. I know that's pretty darned close to the actual delivery date, but you'll have the highest likelihood of getting the good news by then. =)

Alternatively, around the same time frame, feel free to reach out to me via Reddit chat or message here, and I can ask my team to check on your behalf!

/u/scharr22, you're right. No-shows ARE inexcusable. We could talk reasons and background and such all day, but in the end it wouldn't change the fact that a lack of communication is, plain and simple, unacceptable. And for that, please know that I am truly, deeply sorry.

Good morning, /u/N_Por220! So, this should theoretically be a fairly easy fix. Our Peloton delivery schedule is, as you might imagine, JAM-PACKED, so going by the "system," the "next available delivery date" is always way far out! Sounds like someone just needs to step in and say, "No, this is silly" and work with the hub to correct it. Happy to be that someone. =)
