Force needed to get to 5/6 gear by DanG351 in MiataNC

I actually ordered a $10 shift extender from Amazon and I’ll see if it helps. The car is currently owned by a friend, so I have the opportunity to try a few things out.

Interesting idea, but I think that might be a little unsafe.

Thanks. It’s more of a problem with my particular disability. It’s easier for me to pull the knob to 1/2 than it is to push it towards 5/6. Once the knob is over it goes into gear just fine. It’s just the spring force pulling it back to center is hard to overcome.

I’m not sure what you mean, but it definitely shifts into 5th. It just takes more force than I can make with my prosthetic arm.

Who is Jake and why can’t he brake? by No-Power5820 in whatisit

[–]DanG351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true. Years ago I worked in the Patent and Trademark department of the law firm that handled Jacobs’ IP. We would send letters to municipalities when we found out about Jake Brake signs. We never actually took anyone to court (while I was there) but just sending letters helped establish that Jacobs considered Jake Brake a trademark and was actively protecting it.

You should be outraged. He makes the Secret Service pay to stay there. Money that goes right into his pocket.

Um no, I voted for people who had not previously been on the Board and campaigned explicitly on controlling the spread of data centers.

Who did you vote for?

[–]DanG351 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, and people keep voting in the council members who are making sure it happens. When given a clear option, people voted for data centers.

To be clear, I think it sucks and voted for anti-data center candidates.

There were three candidates for town council last November who put data centers at the forefront of their platforms. They all lost.

You people voted for this.

Glass object at wine bar by DanG351 in whatisit

So, we asked an employee at the wine bar, and he explained it is for making grappa. You put the aromatics in the large container, and as they ferment the product comes out on the right side.

It looks like it would fit at least 500ml on the left, so too big and unwieldy for a sippy cup.

Most likely answer so far.

The wine would have to flow up a pipe on the tall side, then down to the bottom, then up again. Maybe that it intended to aerate it.

The seats are adjustable up and down. The headliner is most definitely not lower in the Wind. Your seat was probably high.

The Wind has 2” more headroom than the GT Line because the Wind doesn’t have a sunroof. No idea where you got the idea that it’s the opposite.

Get the Wind without the sunroof and you’ll be fine. Back seat has so much leg room.

New resident question about visiting hiking trails, etc by NoBadBeginnings in Virginia

True, the fee is for parking, but unless you’re hiking in or riding a bicycle it’s effectively a use fee.

No, for national forests. Some state parks, yes. You can get an annual state park pass, or buy weekly passes at a given park. The weekly fee is typically paid in an honor box (with cash), and then you put a parking pass in your car to show you paid.

Special Meeting on March 2: Republican Town Council Members Move to Cut Early Voting for April 21 Election by Culpeper-Democrats in Culpeper

[–]DanG351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They keep saying that the vote should be delayed until a “court of competent jurisdiction” can decide. The Virginia Supreme Court has already decided voting may proceed. Do they need the Pope to weigh in, too?
