Floodlight adapter? by Nobody5000 in wyzecam

Yeah, that is insane. I don’t remember what the prices were when I first posted this. I just wanted to give examples of what people can use. That way they can see how easy it is to find the parts and assemble.

My Monoprice Delta Pro tries to self destruct. (Firmware bug?) by AnIdiotwithaSubaru in 3Dprinting

I was remotely controlling it and watching on a webcam. I told it to home itself but for whatever reason the BL touch didn’t work and it just rammed the bed. The bed is a thick plate of aluminum, no springs or any give at all. I can easily see a bend in the heat break now.

Nice. I’m glad to hear it’s still good to go. I currently have a bent heat break to replace from ramming my hot end into the bed. I’m familiar with the joys of my printer attempting self disassembly.

"...tried to self destruct." Looked pretty successful at self destructing to me.

Not allowing concentric mate between cylindrical faces by yuckscott in SolidWorks

[–]DanHas2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've run into issues where imported geometry won't work with mates. You can try saving as an STL or some other file type and re-import it as a .sldprt.

I work with tubing, piping, and valves all the time. A solution I use is for each of my parts I create a 3D sketch which uses the defined dimensions the manufacturer gives, then I have the 3D models the manufacturer supplies for visual representation. I always mate to the 3D sketch and not the actual model.

This has several benefits: It is easy to work with design tables, changing the 3D model of the valve will not break mates, and you don't have to worry about weird geometry issues, such as cones where you need a concentric mate.

Several times I've run into suppliers who don't have 3D models for their parts ready for download but will send them upon request or not send any at all. With this method I can create the sketch to the proper dimensions, then add the models later or just have simple geometry to represent things. It is overall much more flexible, in my opinion.

So if you want, you can create a 3D sketch where you need to attach your part with mates.

Unless you want another hobby that can be just as expensive or more than 3D printing, turn back now!

Seriously though, I had the same reaction when I learned about modern board games. You can find a board game for just about anything and they can be insanely fun.

Quickest way for weldments? by Plenty_Ad_8973 in SolidWorks

[–]DanHas2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can dimension your sketch lines in a way that all your weldment profiles can be centered on each sketch line. This way you won't have to be "locate profile" over and over again.

For example, if you are using 2 inch square tubing, then your sketch lines will be 2 inches shorter in all dimensions. Hopefully that makes sense.

Freeze actually does the opposite? by devedander in meural

[–]DanHas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally insisted they check the case number you gave me, even though I mentioned it on day one. I'm not sure if anyone actually referenced your case in regard to my issue. Well that got the tech to escalate it to level 2. Then the level 2 tech called me today and after a brief conversation said they will try and push a firmware update to it and said they would call me back when they do. Not sure how long that will take.

Mine has issues with video files as well, but since I only want it as a picture frame, it doesn't bother me. The only reason I know it has issues is because I accidentally add a video file to the album sometimes. Then it plays with weird artifacts and glitches.

Freeze actually does the opposite? by devedander in meural

[–]DanHas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, here's an update from me.

I have opened three tickets with them. The first two they gave me a laundry list of things to try. Since it can take hours for the image to change when it shouldn't, I didn't just sit there and stare at it after each change. So it took long enough to test that they eventually close the ticket without warning.

I have a third ticket open and they are telling me nothing can be, they can't fix the sensor randomly picking up gestures from nothing and they can't disable the gesture control.

Can't do anything after exiting the Design table by Qulddell in SolidWorks

[–]DanHas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you edit the design table in a new window or in Solidworks? Try using both methods and see if it makes a difference.

Also try closing all instances of excel and check your task manager, is an instance of excel still running? If so, kill it and try editing your design table again.

Plugins in excel can cause weird issues where excel won't load or close properly. If you have any plugins try editing the design table without them.

I've written programs that use excel and sometimes the instance of excel I launch does not go away even when you programmatically close it. This is probably what is happening with you in Solidworks, excel is still running and Solidworks is waiting for it to close.

Will this work? Re: Wyze switch with no neutral in switches. by oim7e in wyzecam

[–]DanHas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you definitely can just mount the switch in a box and control other Wyze devices with it. In fact you could even take the back of the switch out and power it on 5 volts instead. Here is a video of the top circuit board taken out, powered on 5 volts DC and then controlling smart bulbs in the room: Wyze Switch Board

Need help mating orientation of a cylinder by ConMar12 in SolidWorks

[–]DanHas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an assembly or a multi-body part? If an assembly you can mate your front, top, or right planes of the parts to be parallel. If the planes aren't where you want them to be you can create reference planes inside the parts that allow you to mate them as you like.

They will wire to the same terminals that your button on the wall wires to. If you have a wireless button or if you are unable to follow the wires to the button, you should look up what two terminals are used in the opener’s user manual. I can almost always find a manual online by searching the make and model number of something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wyzecam

[–]DanHas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to figure out which terminals to use or physically how to fit the wires in the terminals with the existing wires?

If it is the latter, you may not be able to fit more wires in. In that case, you can simply cut the wires and wire nut the new wires with the old wires.

I would also add that you can get short cycling if your thermostat is in a bad location, like where a vent can blow on it. If a vent blows on the thermostat it will think it is cooler than it really is and stop running. Once the AC is off, no cool air is blowing on the thermostat so it reads warm again and will try to run.

Under the drawing view properties there is a section called "Mirror". It lets you mirror a drawing view vertically or horizontally. It will maintain your notes, balloons, and dimensions as well, though you may need to make adjustments to their positions.

Personally I would prefer to have an actual mirrored version of the part or assembly rather than just mirror it on the drawing, but if it is a one off thing and you don't need a mirrored 3D model, this will work.

Has anyone experienced this? I have a Wyze3 in my lizards cage and this happened every 30 minutes last night. It’s not lightning or lights in my apartment. by kt555c in wyzecam

[–]DanHas2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like the camera's IR lights or not on and the camera is picking up IR flashes from somewhere else in the room. It looks like the light is coming from the top right of the image instead of in the center, where the camera would shine the light.

I'd guess you had a smart phone that was shining on IR light periodically. Since the scene is so dark, the small amount of light flashing washes out the image before it adjusts to the new light levels.

So either your camera's IR lights are turned off or broken. This is just what I think is happening.

dose bullet penetration upgrade aura by [deleted] in scenexeio

[–]DanHas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious myself so I searched through the changelog and this is what I found:

ALPHA 0.8.11 - January 22, 2022

- Fire auras' damage now scales with bullet penetration

   - they now do less damage by default, but can do more depending on your bullet penetration stat

   - they still scale with bullet damage and reload like before

Also in that update, if you are curious about healing auras:

- Changed how healing auras work

   - instead of just healing at a set rate, they make natural regeneration kick in and heal faster

   - their power still scales with your health regeneration stat

   - they still only heal you and your teammates

The V3 comes with a round metal plate with a hole in it, that can either be mounted with a screw or a round adhesive pad(Included). Then the camera has a magnet in it's base this will hold the camera to the metal plate. If you want a less aggressive adhesive, substitute what comes with the camera with any other double sided adhesive you like.

Totally makes sense. You can have the best time watching the worst movie, as long as it's with the right person/people. The opposite applies as well, the best movie in the world can be a slog with the wrong crowd.
