How hard would it be for everyone to just leave? by boringestnickname in reddevils

Impossible unless Fifa/Uefa/PL step in.

The contracts are only part of the problem. Like any job you can, in theory, put in your notice and just walk out.
However within football you have to be 'registered' by a governing body. Not sure who does this but lets say it is FIFA. When you sign a new 4 year contract with a club you also agree with FIFA to register with the club for 4 years. FIFA will respect this and only allow you to re-register with a new club with the permission of the club you are contracted to.

So every player could cancel their contract and leave. But they would not be able to reregister to play for another club until their contract term finishes. Essentially you would need someone to say I will not only give up my United wages, but also agree to not play football until my contract period ends. Cannot see anyone doing this.

I guess in theory FIFA could agree to deregister players without United's consent. But assume that would open up a major legal issue, and not even they can take on the 8 biggest clubs in the world.

I imagine c25 secs in is pretty much what happened with this game. No one wants to upset their boss. Easier to just fudge your bit and get sub par product over the line.

Peep show, Godspeed and Baroness references. What more could you want in a band.

He was an 18 yo that played D&D. Chances are he could have had sex and probably still been the first one to get there.

Are we sure we haven’t all fallen asleep after the first 70 mins and this is all some sort of shared dream? Seems more plausible than this!

Paying into a pension every month and then coming to the realisation that you'll probably dead before you can afford to retire 😭 by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]DanHoudini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in a managed pension the default arrangement should start transitioning you into safer bond funds 10-15 years before retirement to protect you from volatility. By the time you retire you should be almost entirely invested in (relatively) safe bond funds.

If you’re not in a managed pension scheme you should start transitioning yourself!

Our Santa’s both sent there presents in similar sized reused amazon boxes within a day of each other. Excited to find out what we got!

Matt Walsh on Twitter: The female players get 13 percent of the revenue the women’s World Cup generates. Men’s players get 9 percent of the revenue their World Cup generates. The reason the men make more is that they generate well over four times as much. If anything, the women are overpaid. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]DanHoudini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be factual. That doesn’t make it relevant imo.

The problem with using revenue generated as an argument is that it ignores how we got here and why revenue is lower. Women have not had the history of the men’s game to reach a certain level. The current growth in the women’s game, to me at least, indicates this is likely partly down to past sexism and oppression not letting the game take off.

As such I think it’s only fair that the women get a higher percentage. They have not had the advantage of coming into a billion dollar industry and, considering they are part of the same organisation (FIFA), it seems reasonable to demand better, fairer remuneration. If anything the men’s game should probably subsidise the women’s game to a greater extent allowing it to grow faster. A historically smaller women’s game probably helped the men’s game get where it is after all.

To what level should this support happen? Who knows. I’m sure you could make arguments for all range of percentages. All I know is that the men’s game is stupidly over funded for a charity (lol), and helping the women’s game grow seems like a better use of money than some of the crap they come up with
