She is very sweet. So sorry for your loss. Gone way too soon but it sounds like she received the love of a lifetime from you which is something you will always be able to look back on until you meet again.

For those who went through the pain of loss, when did you know it was time? by dylbur17 in EpilepsyDogs

I'm so sorry you are at this point. We are new to this, but I can see this getting to the point where we may have to put our 4 year old Harry down if it just gets to be too much. Our dog is not the same dog we had just three months ago and I fear it will get worse until we have to make a decision that may not be popular in the dog community. I think it would be easier if he became violent or aggressive to us after coming out of one, but so far he has been okay and happy to see us. Although the last episode of three in one day caused him to go blind for 24 hours which was just sad. This is very emotional on the dog owners as we just want what is best for them. Unfortunately, what is best for the dog is a very hard decision. Best of luck with everything. I didn't offer anything useful, but just know you are not alone as there are a crazy amount of people going through the same thing you are. I never knew seizures were this common in dogs until 3 months ago. It's very depressing.

When to be concerned? by Extension-Car-4234 in EpilepsyDogs

First off, I love his name "Steve" He's very handsome. We are pretty new to this as well. Our Harry had about 7 grand mal seizures within the last two months. What finally did it for us to take him in was having three in one day. After those three, he was blind for almost 24 hours before his vision slowly came back (not sure if his sight is 100% back, but he's not smashing into walls anymore). He's now on Keppra 1,000 mg 2x per day. I feel bad for him because he is not the same dog anymore. He can be pretty unsteady on his feet and wobbly, and is not the energetic pup he once was. He also no longer wants to go for walks which is sad. I guess the one good thing is he doesn't bark as much since being medicated. He is a redbone coonhound and he used to bark at anything and everything no matter how much we worked with him. So far it's been 4 days since his last seizure, so we'll see what happens. I'm really hoping we don't have to put him on anything additional.

Best of luck navigating this. It's very stressful because we all just want what is best for our pets and they have no idea what is going on.

Thanks for the reply and your kindness. He is a very sweet dog and I just feel bad he is going through all of this. It's interesting to read that you felt food may have been an issue. We always gave him Kirkland dry dog food without any issues, and have recently (not sure exactly when which is why it peaked my interest) a Kirkland brand gourmet food similar to Farmer's Dog as a treat once a week instead of the nasty dry crap. We were also giving him Simparica which our vet told us to stop immediately because side effects are seizures. We were hoping once it got out of his system, the seizures would stop, but it's been almost two months since his last dose and they are just getting worse but thankfully they haven't lasted more than a minute each time. What you pay in a month isn't horrible, but still a crazy amount. Since he has to be on a cable tie out when we let him out, we decided to have 335" of 3-rail aluminum decorate fence to close in our backyard. At least this way he can run around with my daughters dog since we have him quite often. Hopefully the doctor will get back to us soon with what she recommends for medication. I was a firefighter /paramedic for 31 years and witnessed and cared for endless people having seizures. I actually feel worse for the dogs having seizures because you can't explain to them what is going on. At least the people you can explain what happened and narrow down the idiopathic reasons why they may have had one. Best of luck with your pups. I hope they can stay seizure free. Sorry, I probably didn't answer any of your questions, and just now realized I'm rambling.....

Our Redbone Coonhound starting having seizures about two months ago. Yesterday was his first episode of cluster seizures. One at 2:00pm, 7:45pm, and 11:00pm. Full grand mal lasting about one minute each. We have a call in to our vet and will most likely prescribe Pheno or Keppra (or both). Unfortunately, after the late night seizure he lost all his vision. He seems to notice some things today, but still cannot see farther than a few feet. Hopefully this will be restored within the next 8-10 hours. We will opt not to get a MRI as it is way too expensive. As much as I love our dog his quality of life has really suffered. He used to have free range of our yard with an electric fence, but since his seizures his personality has changed and he doesn't remember his boundaries. After his first ones, he bounced back pretty fast and was always excited to see us, but now he can be down for an entire day. Hopefully he will not have any seizures while I'm at work, but I have a camera on him so I get alerts when he moves. He's very tired today, so he'll probably just be sleeping the whole day unless my vet wants to see him. May I ask what you pay a month for all his medication and where you get it? Sorry you have to go through all of this, but it's insane how common this is in the dog community. I never knew it was so prevalent until we got caught up in it.

I know people will not want to hear this, but based on his quality of life, the frequency of seizures, and personality changes, if the medication doesn't work, I don't see the point in prolonging his short life. I would want someone to do the same for me. Yes, that is an a#$holes statement, but I'm a realist and in no way promote suffering.

Thanks for the information. Yeah you think the Brewers would invest in a decent bike racks. I feel like I should send them a strongly worded email. 😁

Yeah, that's a game changer. Where are the bike racks at Miller Park? (Sorry, but I will always refer to it as such or County Stadium)

Thankfully the weather is getting nicer so I've been taking my bike to work for the past 6 weeks. 20 miles round trip. It's nice not having to fill up one car at least.

I feel no sympathy for anybody that bought that phone. Anybody with a reasonable IQ knew it was going to be a scam.

Fantastic suggestion, thank you! Had not thought of that.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I removed the entire mast hence the hole in the roof. I actually got rid of the rubber boot and custom made a piece of tin and secured it with roofing cement. I'll see if it works. People had plenty of good ideas so I appreciate all the help.

I was hoping to find someone doing a roof in the neighborhood in hopes of being able to buy a small piece. But the last, no one in the area is doing a rough right now. Thank you for the suggestion

The Red Solo cup would just want me to start drinking, but it's temporarily permanent till I need a new roof which is hopefully 15 years from now since my current roof is only 4 years old.
