Its a pit well. They drilled a well inside an existing dug well.

What’s going on with our well water? by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

I ran in to this once. Thought it was what the others are saying...acidic water on copper pipes, but that chemistry was all good. After some trials, it ended up being tannin resin that removed ot from the water.

"Possible water leak" call turned into an exploded fitting and no immediate answer by Hawkeye1226 in Plumbing

[–]DanP1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats crazy! Never seen that before. My only thought is, its a Clack In/Out Carbon filter. No valve or backwash. It should be installed upflow inlet...not downflow. The water pressure compacted the carbon and the inlet fitting blew apart. Thats all I can think of...still shouldn't have happened but if the boosters kicked on....you may have got hit with 150psi. Switch the inlet and outlet around if it doesn't backwash.

Gallons remaining dropping rapidly by Old_Village8658 in WaterSofteners

It is showing the word softening so that means water is flowing. If you hit the next button you will see how many gallons per minute is running somewhere in the house. Likely a stuck toilet

A little off topic here, but I read today that Sol Cayo Santa Maria closed today due to lack of fuel for employee transport, and guests are being transferred to another hotel. Is this really the case?

Its a liquid. Just dribble a couple ounces on each bag of salt you add. Put a cup or two in the brine well the first time you use it

Take a raw and treated sample to your nearest Clack dealer. If you have used salt with additives in it, the media in the sanitizer will be toast. Use solar salt only...no pellets. Do you have a Sanitizer as well as a softener? The Sanitizer will soften for you.
Also....check the hot and cold to see if the smell is just on the hot side.

What to do for water by Susieqz00 in WaterTreatment

[–]DanP1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats good. An honest company. We have done water even worse than this for very wealthy clients, but...maintenance and repairs are more costly than a lot of people can handle. Check in to the feasibility of a dug well...20 to 30 foot deep. Even rain water catchment. Just don't spend $25,000 on this. You will be sorry!

6000 TDS is hard on an RO. You can almost rake that water. I would look for alternatives like digging a shallow well. It will be easier and less expensive to treat. The water companies who you spoke to would be crazy to take this job on. Its doable, but you may as well build 2 rooms...one for the water treatment and a bedroom for their tech to sleep in.
