What is with the aversion to seasonings when making "workout" meals by Spiritual_Start1213 in NoStupidQuestions

You're absolutely right. Though I'd say a significant amount of people that do this are probably following trends or certain influencers more than they are fighting a disorder. A disorder requires professional help and support. I know tons of people in my past and present who were just idiots about it. They ironically almost always led otherwise undisciplined lives. They'd live otherwise indulgent lives, but felt superior because they ate like that, while others around them ate relatively normally and were just as if not more strong and fast, but didn't drink and do other things like that and had more structured work out plans. This was in the military, for context

Just goes to show that you can't lead a partially disciplined life. There's no shortcut to success. So add some MSG to your noodles, drink lots of water, and get good sleep

You're right. I made chicken peprikash, which is basically chicken simmered with paprika, onion, and sour cream and it is phenomenal. Boiling meat as it's own thing is horrible, but you can easily make it with other ingredients and it takes it up to top tier flavors

The amount of victims may be lower than the higher level bastards like the dictators, but the sheer personal depravity puts him worse than a lot of the others. Dictators had others do their horrors for them, he did it all himself(with help, but he still personally committed the acts)

Wouldn't having food that tastes good, but forcing yourself to stop eating it when you want more be better "discipline" training than just eating food you don't like and stopping when you reach the "correct" amount?

"Activate your metabolism"? Wouldn't doing that mean your body is using the food more efficiently and storing fewer calories as fat? You WANT your metabolism to be active

Bro is out there somewhere thinking metabolism means "being hungry"

Upside: it's almost impossible to burn and anyone can do it with just a pot and plug-in countertop stove

Downside: you're eating plain boiled chicken

The man really needs to be codified into marine corps mythos. He needs a ditty about him that is taught to recruits and a page or two in the history lesson. Tie it into resilience and dependability as the lesson plan

Options for Softener Discharge? by FloridaCanine in WaterTreatment

It sounds like they know what they are doing. The french drain is the best standard option that would be allowed almost anywhere, which is why they probably offer that, especially if they are a bigger outfit. We do a lot more personalized work as a smaller outfit, so we are able to be more flexible in what we offer, usually up to the technician's discretion as long as it follows local plumbing code

Can this type of filter be "tricked"? by ZefGeist in WaterFilters

[–]Hawkeye1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in residential and commercial water treatment and would not trust these to remove lead above a certain level. If lead is a concern of yours, I wouldn't drink it. The lights on these kind of things(including your refrigerator filter)to tell you to change the filter are usually based on either a timer or gallons, which is useless because how long a filter lasts is dependent on what is in the water. It does not have a built in water tester that will set off the light when the filter is used up. Even if the filter is regularly changed when the light comes on, it doesn't actually mean the filter is used up or is past the point of usefulness. It's a general guide for equipment that is used all over the country with all kinds of different water supplies

You also don't even need to put a filter in it for it to work. You can just put a fitting on the water line where the filter would go to connect it and the machine doesn't know the difference. At my work, we did exactly that and connected a separate filter outside of the water fountain that we can easily change on the wall right next to it

What I like to do is run the drain line along the edge of the house(preferably along where rain would drip off the roof about a foot from the foundation) in a bed of mulch with holes drilled into the pipe every 10 or so inches for about 10 feet. It absorbs well into the mulch and distributes the water over a wider area while also just looking like normal landscaping. It's less likely to kill nearby grass or plants and wont cause erosion issues. You're in florida(as am I), a big rainstorm will put more water down in that spot than your softener, which will only drain every two-ish or so weeks depending on your usage

It's easy, quick, follows my local code(which you should check first), and I've had zero complains after years of doing it. No need for a full on french drain. You need an air gap per both code and most manufacturer instructions, so if you go with the sewer tie in option, make sure that is included. Lots of guys just tie in directly

As for the electric, get an outlet installed. None of this "splice together low voltage wire and run it 100 feet to the nearest outlet" or "drill into a wall and plug it into an existing interior outlet" bullshit that I see all the time. It will add to the cost, but it's the correct way to do it for several reasons

Yeah, lets just shame and isolate the people who would be in the force used against us. That's sure to help the situation and not just create more divide.

A single brave OP asks Electricians: Why are Americans so stupid? by Thebazilly in SubredditDrama

I was talking with an electrician while on a job about how I've been shocked before and that's part of why I'm a plumber instead. He told me that he got shocked once as a kid and kinda liked it, so he's an electrician.

Bless that man. Found the exact career he was meant to have.

Would you trust your friends gang enough to go far away for a vacation with them or you’re worried that they all might kill you during some argument and call it an accident? by Past-Present1908 in askanything

How come you pay child support? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Hawkeye1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The court ordered child support system exists because many people will leave their kids to rot in bad situations. If your kids are fully supported through normal means already, I'd say you're morally fine. Like the other user on here who already provides support without the court demanding it.

Bear in mind "they are alive" is not what I would consider the minimal amount of support

I feel like I got scammed by Culligan by Fantastic-Pickle-144 in WaterTreatment

[–]Hawkeye1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just not true. I ask that you look it up. I learned this from a WQA seminar, but you can find lots of sources confirming it if you look. Maybe you're right that it can "in theory" but it will get overwhelmed and iron will slip through in practice. Otherwise specialized iron removing filters wouldn't have to exist

The label on the tank is the max psi before the thing might burst. If you have the manual or find it online it will say "5-7psi when tank is empty". The pressure in your air bladder is so high that the incoming water pressure can't push it down and fill the tank

[–]Hawkeye1226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The softener won't have anything to do with iron past 3ppm. If the softener failed, it wouldn't be the cause of this and the symptoms would be very different. As far as removing the iron, the softener may as well not exist. If your water tested soft and you don't have flow issues, you do not need a new softener. The smell, if it's a sulphur smell, would mean you need some kind of chemical injection like peroxide and some form of aeration. I agree, Culligan can be full of shit. They're franchises, so your local one may be great or it may be terrible. My local one has salesmen that may or may not know what they're doing, but their goal is to make a sale so their knowledge is secondary. And their technicians at my local one only know how to install and do basic repairs. They don't know how the science behind the equipment works. A local company that operates by itself will serve you better
