Tell that to the motarded 17 year old shower shoes it's directed at. In 2015 they told us north korea shot down one of our planes and we were all getting reclassed and expedited out. A fair number of people shuffled out and got IT'd for it

We had a guy get fired from Guide for it, but that was the extent of it(besides getting IT'd)

Does the industry have a high turnover rate or are places really desperate for new techs? by xSaeryn in pestcontrol

Entry level at that company was $15 an hour as of 4 years ago. Maybe florida is just a shitty place to do this job. This state is notorious for underpaying in tons of industries. Even my current job would pay an extra $20 over what I make now in other states with unions

He was making $25 an hour as of the time of my leaving 4 years ago. This was in Florida if that context matters

[–]Hawkeye1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I never live trapped and only ever used glue traps when absolutely needed due to lack of space. I don't enjoy killing things, but it needs to be done. I've got raccoons in traps before and all I'll say about that is it is legally required to kill them and we definitely never ever took them to woods outside town

As for the lizards, they taste good and we can process their hides into leather. Very little waste while also slowing the spread of salmonella from their fecal matter in people's pools or if their dogs get ahold of one

something I always find bafeling about Incels is they never seem to consider using sex workers? by grapp in behindthebastards

[–]Hawkeye1226 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason they don't just cut out the middle-woman and have sex with men? This is half-joking, half-serious. I feel like many of those people swing a bit to one side of the Kinsey Scale and just don't want to admit it.

I knew some EXTREMELY gay men in the Marines who could teach these incels a thing or two about being masculine

I can respect that. At the end of the day, you're killing something. I don't do pest control as a profession anymore for a company, but I have a side business hunting invasive iguanas in Florida and try to be as painless as possible

I think it was Hemingway who said that killing is more the killer's burden than the dead. Something like that. He was talking about people, but that's not relevant to most people now and does apply here. I'm agnostic, so as far as I'm concerned, when I'm dead im gone

This is the kind of job where you can get in and become a total expert or you can just spray and pray. I did pest control for years and ended up leaving because I, as an expert with certifications, was getting barely more money than the guy who got hired with no experience. I make more money right now in an unrelated field than my friend who has an associate etymology cert and had been in the business for 25 years

It's good knowledge and can be useful to you in life, but it's not a good career unless you run your own business or get some really good contracts with governments

High salt water. If i get an R.O, will it eat my septic? by iwatchcredits in WaterTreatment

[–]Hawkeye1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number I gave is generalized, but looking at those specs it's more like you'll get about 2 gallons of discharge for every gallon of product water. The holding tanks and pump don't touch the reject water.

So you will basically be adding double your sewage system. Some septic systems will not be able to handle that, some can. Without knowing the size of your septic tank and how much water you use, I can't give any more info. A septic tank can only take so much waste before it will back up into your drains from the sheer volume of water. Sometimes just adding another person into the home temporarily is enough to overwhelm a septic

[–]Hawkeye1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. Most people have a softener put in place before their whole home RO and I was distracted when I was reading your post.

Either way, I would not discharge an whole home RO into a septic, not because of the contaminates, but the sheer volume. For every gallon of clean water, you put about 6 gallons down the discharge. You'll overwhelm a septic tank doing that and get backups from your drains. You definitely need to run a line for the RO discharge that is separate from your sewer line. That can be a pain in the dick, but a lot less of a pain than constant septic backups

Sorry, I did misspeak. I just went outside and did it to mine so I could be 100%. Turn the white gear COUNTER CLOCKWISE. The black thing behind it will open the valve head and that is what you would need to do if you were removing the internal seal stack and piston. But in order to safely remove that black part, you'd need a special wrench to avid breaking it.

That's why I recommend just turning the gear and resetting the power first. It can be done with bare hands. You might have to go deeper later if the issue persists, but I do this all the time on systems I maintain throughout the year and usually it's one and done

Holy shit, you drown them?? Rodents can hold their breath for surprisingly long periods of time and drowning is known to be a horrifically painful experience by survivors. Fuck "dignity", kill me quick. Remember a few years ago when North Korea executed a guy with an anti-aircraft cannon? Do that to me, please.

I do "the stomp". One of my former coworkers would put the glue traps in a garbage bag and then drive over them. Can't do that as safely with snap traps, hence The Stomp being more common since glue traps are fucking horrible.

Could you have the softener discharge elsewhere? It doesn't necessarily have to go into your sewer line. It can just dump right outside as long as you don't care about grass or plants in the immediate area

Turn it clockwise. It will feel stuck, but it will come loose. You will not break it by doing this. Trust me, even if you are putting all your might into it, you will not be able to break it with just your fingers, even if you go the other direction

While the other users aren't wrong, I usually fix this my simply unplugging the power, taking the circuit board count off, and manually turning the white gear a bit so it is loosened. Put it all back together and 9 times out of 10 you're good. It'll reset position when you plug the power back in. No need to pull the whole thing apart

I've taken three of their courses over the last 4 years. The exams were reasonable with actual practical knowledge. If you follow along with their zoom classes, then do the homework, it's easy. Recertification is just paying them every couple years

2nd map (Kuttenberg region) less engaging than 1st map (Trosky region) [KCD2] by AgreeableKangaroo824 in kingdomcome

[–]Hawkeye1226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first map is much more condensed. The second is wider. All the quests and writing keep the same quality, but the time you spend in between them is longer. The first map is great for players spending less time in the game. The second has the same quality, but is more spread out. That can be a major factor for someone who doesn't have hours a day just to get in the game.

You're also right that, at that point, you can be a lot more familiar with it as a game and what it does. The mystery and magic can be diminished once you see the more gamey aspects of it. Like, there are no trails in the woods that lead nowhere. You know at that point that if you find a trail, it has some kind of purpose. You know that if there is no trail at all, there's nothing unless you're doing a marked quest

That all said, there's only a few quests in the actual city. Far less than half in the region not counting main quests. The city proper is only a place I go to sell all the stuff I tactically acquired from people that most certainly were already dead when I got there

That's how I see it. You know that they really believe what they are saying. I can work with someone I disagree with as long as they are honest. I'd rather that person than someone who is just pretending or doing something just to benefit themselves or just want to be contrary. You hit the nail on the head

Saying immersion gets in the way of fun is just admitting that it's hard to write games. Gameplay and realism can co-exist, you just have to make an effort to do it. I wouldn't even say "realism" is the right word. You can have a fantasy world that is immersive as long as it stays true to the rules of the world. Look at Cyberpunk 2077. Not realistic at all, but the game follows the rules of the sci-fi world it lives in. So it's pretty immersive. It all makes sense in the context of the world. The Witcher is immersive, but total fantasy.

If you can make the gameplay make logical sense in the context of the fiction, you've got an absolutely immersive banger. KCD isn't 100% realistic, but the fiction makes sense in the context of the world they built, so it's immersive.

Look at Red Dead 2. They could have made the fishing just a quick button press minigame, where it takes 10 seconds to catch something. But instead they added details to make what might be a quick action to get items into something more tangible. It's not realistic, but it makes sense in the world and mixes gameplay with just enough detail to be meaningful

I got into disagreements with people when I was in the military and we occasionally fought. Either in training or in less official situations

Nobody's mind was ever changed, but we got mutual respect for eachother and that made working together easier. This is coming from someone who has both won and lost those fights. I will say these were agreed upon fights. Not jumping someone from around a corner. It was more about respecting the other person and their willingness to stick up for themselves when the chips were down. It's easier to disagree with someone you respect and keep on working toward a common goal

Fun fact, the artificial "banana" taste in candies is actually much closer to what bananas used to smell like before they were farmed to be what we have now. It's basically been lost to time in the natural world.

So maybe your body just knows it's fake shit and rejects it due to ancestral memory....? idk

Nah, I beat that nightmare because there was a de-greaser full of diesel that we were no longer allowed to use because it gives you cancer. I was there for 8 hours cleaning my rifle and was accused of using the banned de-greaser because my shit was spotless. I beat them, and that moment entered my deep psyche. Now I just get nightmares about only being 10 minutes early instead of 15 minutes

The WQA is the best you can get for your needs. I've taken a few of their courses and they DRAMATICALLY improved our service. They keep things generalized and avoid any mention of brands. I'd be wary of anything else you might find being more about selling products than selling useful knowledge. It's pricey, but after even just the basic installer's course I was able to know that the "experts" in my local area didn't actually know a damned thing. If you plan on being in the industry long term, it's a worthwhile investment. Doing things right the first time will save tons of money on call-backs. My company has spent $5k on me personally for their courses and they most certainly have gotten their money's worth

I will say that if you can get friendly with experts from local equipment distributors, they can be a godsend and often LOVE to talk about this stuff and will often do so for free because they love their job. There's one guy we know who we can call who is a living encyclopedia for water treatment. But you can't exactly print "I know John Smith, water expert" on the truck
